Hi Got my car insured with Footman James, they only insured my S-type R because I was in the JDC, but was by far the best quote I had with the best policy I've been offered there excess was really low and there uk staff and call centre they also do agreed value a well, which was very good this is the second year I've been with them and renewal came through more competive than everone else cheers Joe

hi its not wheels is it, you not hit a pot hole recently, or any other wheels damage cant think of anything else that would vibrate under power and braking might be worth swapping fron and rear wheels see if it helps cheers Joe

front, rear and exterier mirror screen heaters not working
JOE-DOT-COM replied to John Birchall's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi there fed from different fuses and relays the rear heater and mirrors are common might be worth getting a diagnostic plugged in to see if there are any faults, do the buttons light up, when pressed, do you hear any relays click in the boot area have attachted some pics of the wiring and fuse numbers cheers Joe -
hi It was mainley issues with earlier sump filters and pattern ones latter ones had larger pin heads on the sump/filter to eliminate this, also if there over tightened they can crush the sleeves in the filter/sump I've seen them put together with a sleeve insert missing in the sump/filter, which cause the sump to distort as the tension will squash the sump/filter a lot of people use pattern parts which are not as good and sometimes inferior quality I serviced mine a few year ago with all genuine ZF parts and never had any issues since, though it did come with updated sump/filter, updated pins, larger heads, updated mechatronics sleeve, early sleeves were prone to leaking from the o-ring. the gearbox holds about 10 litres, but you can only get about 6 litres out by removing the sump, dropping the mechatronics will drain a bit more, but even then the torque convertor stays half full. this gearbox is generally a great gearbox as its used in many cars like, audi, bmw, bentley, aston martin, citroen, jaguar , landrover, maserati, porshe and ford are a few, most of them use the plastic sump/filter apart from the landrovers which use a steel one, but the plastic ones are not known to leak if fitted correct problem is genuine parts for service was about £200 and after market ones are around £100, which one do you think your indi is going to fit?, they both look the same once fitted cheers Joe

hi I would say the nav unit in the boot needs the software updating the video for the touch screen comes from the nav unit in the boot if you keep your eye open on ebay nav units can be bought for £50 but the newest map is from 2012, which is quite out of date now I updated my touch screen to jagdroid, Ben willcox makes them, and you can use all the original equipment and also the unit is android, so you can stream music from your phone, play mp3's, music and video's, add front and rear camera's, use apps like tomtom, google maps and even surf the web, well worth it if its a keeper for more info look here https://jaguar.willcoxonline.com/ also if you contact ben he will tell if yours can be converted to engish easily cheers Joe

hi its a timing belt at the end of the day, it will perish and snap eventually, but at least when this snaps it wont destroy the engine they allways recomend changing them both at the same time, the fuel pump belts is the easy one to change as well cheers Joe

hi What year , what car if its the zf 6 speed auto, then none of the sensors are easy to change but could also something as simple as the cable requiring adjusting between the j-gate and gearbox, this will give similar faults all depends what condition the car is in and how much its selling for cheers Joe
-
hi a lot of problems with the headlight are due to the adjusters in side that break and once they break the point down, giving poor lighting then adjusters can be purchased of ebay and replaced, so at least your lights are pointing in the right place HID genuines are not straight forward to fit and requires lots of wiring mods to get them working, wired completely different, front and rear level sensors needed, relays and wiring in fuse box, headlight leveling module needed and all programing hid kits off places like ebay, do work well, but can effect light pattern and depending on your mot'er, can fail, same with LED's, lots of led's are poor quality and dont lasts also any bulb over 2700K is actually classed as illegal most people use Ring Xenon 130 or Ring Xenon 150, these work well and last well, at about £20 quid, not too bad, I tried the philips similar ones and they only last a few months also you get to keep the rear light cover on with these ring ones, unlike the hid kits and led's, which stops dirt entering the headlight and also stops them steaming up cheers Joe

Hi Peter Its peace of mind aswell at the end of the day if its due and you get it done, then you can forget about it for 10 years if its genuine parts now the next best manufacturer of timing belts if you ask me is Gates, Now they recomend 60k or 7 years on there belts and the only place who going to use genuine parts is a Jaguar service centre, also Jaguar have fixed prices and are usually quite reasonable on timing belts changes and dont forget there's 2 timing belts on there, front timing belt and rear fuel pump belt cheers Joe

hi why risk it get it done when it snaps it scrap cheers Joe
