  1. hi I would say the nav unit in the boot needs the software updating the video for the touch screen comes from the nav unit in the boot if you keep your eye open on ebay nav units can be bought for £50 but the newest map is from 2012, which is quite out of date now I updated my touch screen to jagdroid, Ben willcox makes them, and you can use all the original equipment and also the unit is android, so you can stream music from your phone, play mp3's, music and video's, add front and rear camera's, use apps like tomtom, google maps and even surf the web, well worth it if its a keeper for more info look here https://jaguar.willcoxonline.com/ also if you contact ben he will tell if yours can be converted to engish easily cheers Joe
  2. hi its a timing belt at the end of the day, it will perish and snap eventually, but at least when this snaps it wont destroy the engine they allways recomend changing them both at the same time, the fuel pump belts is the easy one to change as well cheers Joe
  3. hi every thing you need is here http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe
  4. hi What year , what car if its the zf 6 speed auto, then none of the sensors are easy to change but could also something as simple as the cable requiring adjusting between the j-gate and gearbox, this will give similar faults all depends what condition the car is in and how much its selling for cheers Joe
  5. hi a lot of problems with the headlight are due to the adjusters in side that break and once they break the point down, giving poor lighting then adjusters can be purchased of ebay and replaced, so at least your lights are pointing in the right place HID genuines are not straight forward to fit and requires lots of wiring mods to get them working, wired completely different, front and rear level sensors needed, relays and wiring in fuse box, headlight leveling module needed and all programing hid kits off places like ebay, do work well, but can effect light pattern and depending on your mot'er, can fail, same with LED's, lots of led's are poor quality and dont lasts also any bulb over 2700K is actually classed as illegal most people use Ring Xenon 130 or Ring Xenon 150, these work well and last well, at about £20 quid, not too bad, I tried the philips similar ones and they only last a few months also you get to keep the rear light cover on with these ring ones, unlike the hid kits and led's, which stops dirt entering the headlight and also stops them steaming up cheers Joe
  6. Hi Peter Its peace of mind aswell at the end of the day if its due and you get it done, then you can forget about it for 10 years if its genuine parts now the next best manufacturer of timing belts if you ask me is Gates, Now they recomend 60k or 7 years on there belts and the only place who going to use genuine parts is a Jaguar service centre, also Jaguar have fixed prices and are usually quite reasonable on timing belts changes and dont forget there's 2 timing belts on there, front timing belt and rear fuel pump belt cheers Joe
  7. hi why risk it get it done when it snaps it scrap cheers Joe

  15. Hi All Any Body here going the Jaguar S-type meet at JLR classics to Celerbrate 20 years since the S-type launch at the NEC Its A JEC event but all S-types are welcome, I enailed them and got a reply saying I was welcome when they replied, was told 110 S-types were going and 26 S-type R's, that was over two weeks ago, so expect more would expect this will be the biggest gathering of S-types since they were built weather looks good for saturday 20th Oct, its at JLR classics, Imperial rd, CV8 3LF there free entry in the JLR classics and theres a breakfast snack bar there as well I'm going and will take some pics Cheers Joe
  16. hi looks great!! make sure you check sills, there hidden by covers and can completely rot away on any age S-type also check rear subframe, early models are prone to rust and replacement subframe are very scarce now cheers Joe
  17. hi just make sure you put a fuse as near to the battery as you can just to protect your new wiring cheers Joe
  18. Hi They take your old battery away because a lot of scrap places give 10 to 15 pounds now scrap value for a battery. But yes your right Theres some serious weight in them Cheers Joe
  19. hi for that price I would of bought a AGM battery from the battery mega store, hankook agm, superb battery, gel dont leak, well recomended, 5 year garantee https://www.batterymegastore.co.uk/hankook-sa59520.html also are you a member, did you use your 15% off card from the jaguar owner club at halfords cheers Joe
  20. Hi have you tried raising your seat height, so you alter the angle of view should move the reflection of the tray cheers Joe
  21. hi, they do a 2.0 and 2.2, but if log book says 1988, its going to be the 2.0 vin number will confirm engine size cheers Joe
  22. hi usually get lots of wd40 in the pivot and mechanism then once its moving get sone oil in there aswell they do seize up if not lubricated cheers Joe
  23. hi its hard to say why its happened with out reading codes off the headlight leveling module but if the battery was low that could also cause it, maybe nothing wrong but low voltage fault, because it does the go all the way up, then all the way down, then levels the headlight beam, every time you switch the ignition on only way to reset is with jaguar software, if theres a local jaguar indy near you might be getting them plug in and see what fault code is, should'nt cost too much as its a 10 min job tops cheers Joe
  24. hi headlights stop leveling if you has a faulty front or rear level sensor if the headlights are unplugged with the battery connected or it could be broken adjusters which is very common, improoved ones are available on ebay and are not a massive job to do also the faults above can only be reset with jaguar ids/sdd to get them working again cheers Joe
  25. hi, If its ash tray you want it, then I'd buy a second hand ash tray and have a play the vaneer just unclips, lift front edge, I use one of those plastic trim tools, then push towards the dash and it comes off, so thats not a issue get one and see whats your options, possible cut the cigarett socket back and fit a new piece of black plastic, so you have a blank panel to start with then get some 12v usb sockets to add, possibly a 12v aux socket and or even a voltmeter there loads of options just mix and match cheers Joe https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-Car-Boat-Cigarette-Lighter-Socket-Dual-USB-Charger-Voltmeter-UK/183363741592?hash=item2ab154a798:g:OPgAAOSwP~FbaES~
