Hi As far as I'm aware there's no joints in the foot well, but it may be behind the front cd player, the cd player is the main D2B network controller, If you lose that connection you lose everything also have you disconnected the battery first, if the system had a fault, disconnecting the battery will clear it, make sure you have the code first for the cd player also make sure you battery is ok, above 12.5 volts with engine off, low battery will cause loads of different faults cheers Joe

HI As Peter said, WD40 should do the trick, A good run and get the cat up to temp might cure it cheers Joe

chain or belt Jaguar XJ Chain driven or timing belt

hi more than sure it chain on yours if you have a engine code, I could tell you for sure cheers Joe -
Hi Its a common problem on diesel's, all diesel's not just jaguar's its commonly Injectors failing, leaking injectors is one, they use really high pressures and when they wear with age, they leak, not usually a issue when its running its when you stop the car, the injector weeps diesel into the cylinder, only very small amounts, but this diesel seeps past the piston ring into the crankcase and mixes with the engine oil sometime symptoms can be hard starting when hot, or engine won't rev clean when first started, regular dpf faults and regens can also be symptoms but usually if it starts and drives correct and oil levels stays constant, then there's usually no issues the 2.7tdv6 is used by quite a few manufacturers, peugeot, citroen, renault, land rover, so its quite reliable unit as a rule cheers Joe

Hi if you have a generic code reader, odds are it won't communicate the gearbox ecu, so you won't get any codes you need Jaguar IDS/SDD, yours been 2001 its IDS software if its the 5 speed ford unit, the oil change and filter are quite cheap if its the ZF 6HP25 ^ speed gearbox, then its quite a bit dearer, £200 just for parts, that zf lifeguard 6 oil, filter/pan, new pins for pan and a mechatronics sleeve (seal for gearbox electrics, common fail) 2 - 4 on the left hand of j-gate, 5 speed and 2 - 5 on the left hand of j-gate is 6 speed might be just a fluke, but if there's a issue, it will be back If its never had a oil change its well worth doing there's video's on youtube on how to change the oil cheers Joe

Hi I think thats normal, there should be a plastic type pull on it Its for releasing the boot from the inside, should one get trapped in there or I assume the boot mech fails, drop the rear seat and pull to open cheers Joe
-
Hi Its also important on diesels to keep regular checks on the oil level They don't tend to fail if the oil level stays correct if the oil rises after a certain level, it can easily be sucked back into the engine via the crankcase breather, which is directly connected to the inlet side of the engine cheers Joe

Hi I'd say battery, even though its new, if the car not used often, it can cause lots of problems Put the car on a trickle charge overnight, that should cure it long term you want something like a ctek car battery charger, they are a smart charger and can be left on charge long term, it will protect the battery and certainly cure lots of problems on the s-type cheers Joe
-
Hi If the battery was really flat 6 hours charge might not be enough check the battery with a meter needs to be about 12.5 volts engine off I'd put it on charger overnight and then try it cheers Joe

Hi don't think its a turbo actuator as you would get a fault, sticky actuator would cause under or over boost, which would create a fault black smoke tends to point more to a fuel problem injector or faulty sensor causing a richer mixture, hence black smoke best way take it to a specialist really, at least its done and dusted, saves replacing good parts to eliminate fault keep us posted cheers Joe

cd changer power supply
JOE-DOT-COM replied to teapot tony's topic in Jaguar Audio / Video / Electronics / Security Systems
Hi The left one in the D2B network, which is a fibre optic, it goes to phone, nav, voice, cd changer, amp, it loops to each one, so you will either alter yours so in now includes the cd changer, or buy a new one off ebay that has a extra connector, this is for sound the smaller one is power, it should be there some where, usually taped to the loom with foam sponge protecting it cheers Joe -
Hi yes it should work the fibre optic cable wont be used and you just need a adapter for the aerial cheers Joe
-
Hi If its the diesel, I would go with faulty injectors, only way is to get them tested really if you have a bad leaky injector, it can cause oil level to rise, is you oil level correct you still should get a fault code cheers Joe
-
HI it should work, was the fibre optic plugged into the cd player are you planning to remove the cd player cheers Joe
-
HI first release the park brake and press the park brake down and turn the ignition off and pull the key out, park brake will stay off now remove the rear caliper and pads, the wind the piston back with a tool like ralphs picture above refit discs, pads and caliper, you might want to adjust the piston on the caliper, so the caliper fits on snug, no large amount of play, but not too tight it binds the you need to disconnect the battery and reconnect, you will get a message now saying apply the parking brake, press the brake pedal a few times so its hard, the apply the EPB and thats it cheers Joe

jaguar remote not turning lights on
JOE-DOT-COM replied to Luis Freeman's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi could be just a dodgy micro switch on the remote you can buy them on ebay cheers Joe -
hi have you tried plugging your code reader in whilst in limp mode cheers Joe

Hi Have a good look round the boot, make sure there's nothing floating around the spare wheel also I had a strange tapping noise, ended up been those rear seat cable pulls, mine use to just float around and sort of bounce between the carpet and boot hinges, making a tapping noise ended up putting black velcro round them and sticking them back to the carpet cheers Joe
-
Hi They do look nice and shiny
-
hi yes the other is aerial does your car have the 7" touch screen cheers Joe
-
HI are you trying to replace the 7" jaguar touch screen, with a after market one, if so you cant, because you will lose all you heater climate control. the cable your holding a a fibre optic D2B network on the car, all the sound is digitaly sent down that fibre optic, that fibre optic loops into every thing with sound on the car, and send it to the amp for sound,if any of the fibre loop is disconnected you will loose all the sound on the car, stereo, cd, dvd, nav ,voice , phone, bluetooth If your car has the older lcd display, then this connector is not used, unless your car has nav, voice , phone, bluetooth and the loom you have is most probably correct what stereo are you replacing cheers Joe
-
Hi its depends weather it has the module fitted or not if you press the phone icon on the steering wheel and its say mute its more than likely not fitted if you go here to ford etis Ford Etis and enter you vin number, it will give you full spec you need phone module and bluetooth module to pair a phone cheers Joe
-
Hi At a guess they forgot to reset the service indicator you can do it yourself here the procedure off auto data cheers Joe

HI You must have a leak, though it might be small, problem is most garages now have these all in one machines that vac it down, leak test and fill with gas. You need to have a good look around, most common place would be the condenser, radiator behind the bumper, have a good look at it, especially in the corners, if you see any staining that a yellow/green color, odds are that's where your leak is most air con people will put dye in that shows up with a uv light, they can also put in a sealer, that will fix minor leaks, like that, my S-type R which uses the same component as the XF, the air con is ice cold, your better off ringing a proper air conditioning engineer out, most do cars and should be able to find the leak, there no more expensive and all they work on is air con, most are old school and don't use the all in one machines cheers Joe
