Hi if you cant get the boot open, then its under bonnet depending on which car you have, if you can get to the starter or alternator, they are connected direct to the battery but i would no start the car, just power it up and open the boot, then either change the battery or leave it on charge over night jump starting the car, will cause low voltages on the car and will throw loads of faults up if you can't get to the starter or alternator like me, there's no space in the engine bay on the s-type r the other place is drivers side wheel arch, pic below, but get that boot lock oiled up and next time just use the key cheers Joe

Hi If your after a comfy ride, then most will do the job, Bilstein are the best though, B4 for comfort If you after a sportier ride the bilstein b6 are very good, but not cheap depending on what model of s-type you have Bilstein are standard fit, if your car has CATS, adaptive dampers, then OE Bilstein are the way to go, as you get comfort and stiffer damping, that adjusts to your driving style, but again no cheap cheers Joe

Hi You will only get what people are prepared to pay have a look on ebay and autotrader and see what similar cars go for and adjust the price if your has better spec or condition or recent work on it cheers Joe

Hi I,d put some extra grease inside them also I rub some grease on the rubber gaiters after, I see a lot of the rubber gaiters/boots perish in next to no time, the grease rubbed on them make em last longer cheers Joe -

Hi Just curious, do you have a spare remote, have you tried that cheers Joe
-
Hi just had a quick look , cant find any info at a guess it lost its sync with the car, its with rolling codes on the remote your hand book says only a Jaguar dealer should replace the car battery and autodata says it can be done and there nothing special, apart from reseting all the auto stops on the windows have you tried pressing the lock or unlock with 5 seconds of switching the ignition on cheers Joe

HI On the S-type's, pre 2005 have them on the bonnet and post 2005 have them on the wipers you could see if them washer jets could be fitted to your wipers I would not blank the old ones off, just leave them, it would look neater cheers Joe maybe something like this would do you

Hi Yes they are small have you noticed now a lot of new cars, on the front, when they are indicating either the side or drl goes off and a fog light comes on, on the side that's turning now that is strange cheers Joe

Hi Yes works really well, if you look on youtube there's loads of clips dont think its going be cheap though, would like one in my tool box cheers Joe

Hi and Welcome Gordon It could be a few things really, from a low battery, dodgy epb motor, sticky brake caliper, or tight handbrake cables disconnecting the battery usually clears it, but make sure you have the stereo code first there a way of testing the epb, directly by dabbing 12v on the epb motor wire in the boot have a look here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xebdRYwtjE with the clip above you will be able to drive the parking brake on and off basically the epb, memorizes a reached position for parking brake on and parking brake off, if it cant reach that position it will cause a fault cheers Joe
-
Hi Still sounds like EGR valves to me, they might be clean but they could still be faulty the ecu monitors both egr's, so the electronic's inside them could be faulty could also be faulty actuators on the turbo's, they are electronically controlled, but you usually get fault codes for both of these you could do with a obd logger to monitor the ecu and record any fault codes, some faults will automatically clear as soon as the fault clears also may be a air leak, a split hose or perished hose with cause faults under load and clear when driven normal/light pedal a descent app and obd tool can monitor most engine parameters and can help find faults like air leaks by monitoring fuel trims cheers Joe

Hi If you go to jaguar topix site, login in as a quest, enter your vin, it will list any recall info on your car cheers Joe
-
Hi most places do them, Ebay most probably cheapest or just google number plate designer online and there will be loads to choose from though I think the standard ones look better, more modern and does not remind you of the rover 75 every time you see it cheers Joe
-
Hi You have to plug in when the restricted performance is on the dash, dont switch the ignition off or it will clear could one of a few things but fault code should point you to it cheers Joe
-
Hi John Looks great !!! As for the OBD , all the generic cheap ones will work fine for engine fault codes and descent ones can be had for less than £30 If you want a more serious tool, then the mongoose lead and software, can be had for about £80 to £100, but this will read every module on the car, will do everything Jaguar can, as its the same software, only draw back you will need a laptop with windows xp on it, you can use windows 7 and 8, but you have to use something like VMWare, but its not as stable cheers Joe
-
Hi Might be worth checking around the gearbox, just in case it has a slight leak cheers Joe
-
Hi Just make sure you read all the information first I got a 3 year warranty with my Jaguar S-type R when I bought it, which I thought was great but with some there's certain things that need to be met, like on mine it needs to be serviced every year, which is good, but I do all my own work on the car, so that does not count also usually things have to break, if it down to wear and tear, they wont fix it, also you have to do thingx to a set procedure with some companies, like if some thing breaks, you have to call a recovery vehicle out, then recovered to a garage, before they will pay out Personally I dont think there worth it, but there must be good waranty's out there, maybe some one will have good experience and recommend one cheers Joe
