  1. HI No need to disconnect the negative if your using a good quality charger say like a CTEK low batteries on these cause lots of problems, mine is kept on a oe jaguar ctek all the time when its not in use, never had any problems in over 7 years cheers Joe
  2. hi this is global opening and theres also global closing this can be activated a few ways, pressing and holding the unlock on the remote, holding the driver door key in the unlock position and holding the lock/unlock button on the dash. usually its a stuck button on the remotes, but if you have removed batteries, the driver door lock is favorite, will most probably have water in it cheers Joe
  3. hi the wiring should be there, the ends are usually taped in a sort of foam you want the later type plastic module that does both, phone and bluetooth you will also need a bluetooth antenna, additional fibre loop and a mic for your roof console or the later mic that goes in the roof lining but plugs into the same place in the roof console if you try fit the earlier dual modules, phone module and bluetooth module, its a nightmare as all the wiring in the connectors is wrong, at both ends boot and armrest, as there wired for handset not bluetooth though the Jap version do miss a lot of the uk spec stuff. cheers Joe
  4. hi no it just like a normal damper, only difference is a plug at the top cheers Joe
  5. hi the s-type last nav update was 2012, unless you live in aus, you can still get current updates there and no the XF dvd wont work in a s-type I got JAGDROID in mine, which updates the touch screen to up to date Android, so you can use google maps or tomtom software, reverse cameras and anything you as on you android phone not cheap, but a lot cheaper than a modern phone, love mine well recomended cheers Joe https://www.jagdroid.org/
  6. if you buy shock absorber that are for lowered cars the shocks are shorter so yes lowered shock absorbers can lower the car cheers Joe
  7. hi They dont light up, not really needed as the interior light stays on for quite a while and goes off when the key is inserted cheers Joe
  8. hi can only be the springs, nothing else will effect the height, unless it has lowered shoch absorbers on it which are shorter cheers Joe
  9. hi the only thing that can drain the battery in 15 minutes without catching fire is the alternator, anything else would catch fire. if its a 100Ah battery that means 100 amps for 1 hour, so 15 minutes means around 400 amps the alternator has 6 large diodes, when when they fail short the battery out, as its always connected if you can feel the alternator I bet its gets hot only other item is the battery lead, from the battery in the boot to the front of the car, but would expect some smoke cheers Joe
  10. HI there real easy to open and replace the adjusters especially if you have the HID lights, on a R model as there really expensive did mine and there great, better option than buying used, as they might already be broken cheers Joe
  11. Hi John Yes the headlights can be adjusted manually, thats how you set them up initially, there will be adjuster on the headlights to lower and raise them once set correct, the idea is the more load or passengers that are added to the car, as the rear of the car lowers, so will the headlights. the HID bulbs can be bought off ebay, I went for 8k which are a bit more bluish, but there far cheaper, Ive even tried the cheap ones and there just as good thanks Joe
  12. hi p1000 is normal, once you have cleared fault codes, once a drive cycle is complete it disapears cheers Joe
  13. Hi If you think thats a PITA, you want try doing the same hose on the supercharged model Jobe will done though cheers Joe
  14. Hi if the lights are hid, then will either be the bulb (if its got ignitor built in), the ignitor (if seperate) or ballast ( favorite ballast ) halogens rarely fail, but if its halogen, check the relays cheers Joe
  15. hi all these are quite easy to do, as long as you have descent jack, axle stands, spanners and sockets front upper ball joint means swapping the whole arm which is quite easy rear tie rods would swap as a pair, these can be a bit fiddly but ok to do, rear tracking or 4 wheel alignment will need doing after this, as the tie rods are adjustable and alter tracking on the rear lower shock bush can be replaced on its own, bushes can be bought, if shocker looks ok, a vice and a few sockets will press the bush out and back in work shop manuals here http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe
  16. try autoreserve jaguar
  17. hi you need to check the fuel pump with a meter and check you have 12 volts at the pump if its cranking over then its not the security system stopping it as it would not crank also check you have spark if the car has stood with anything less than 3/4 of a tank of fuel, odss are the fuel pump has seized and rusted, if cars are stood should always be on a full tank workshop manuals and wiring diagrams here http://www.jagrepair.com/ ideally you need a jaguar compatible diagnostic read like jaguar ids/sdd or icarsoft lr v3, generic ones will only read engine and not other modules to see where fault is cheers Joe
  18. hi does not need to be BJ as long as the first two sets are the same, last set it revision and any will work, the higher the letters the newer it is but needs to be off a similar car or it wont work and will need coding to the car like a manual gearbox one will not work correct on a auto gearbox as software is different a new unit will also come blank and need coding to the car cheers Joe
  19. Hi I dd mine a few years ago and once there done, they stay really wel if there just polished once in a while never used laquer on mine I just polish the lights when i polish the car, and they still look great they can be laquered if required, but a lot more work involved, and if not done right will spoil them cheers Joe
  20. hi with every amber light and every red light a message is displayed telling what the warning is, so only you would know the answer to this quite common though, is the rubber boots on the wiper mech shafts perish and cover the engine in water in heavy rain, which can go on coil packs and various other stuff any engine fault should be stored and bought up with a good code reader cheers Joe
  21. hi Ive used the 3m headlight restore kit on s-type R headlights every thing in the kit you need, all you need is just a battery drill and it works really well, they came up like new cheers Joe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mPWhOW0mik
  22. hi there suppose to be pressurised theres a vent valve that vents at a certain pressure, then usually through a carbon filter it stops the fuel going off and stops vapors going to atmosphere cheers joe
  23. hi you have a few options, get a kit off ebay, remove yours, remove the cloth, rub all the foam off and stick new material on, about £100 or get a new one, new headliner off ebay, grp one, dont hold the damp like the hardboard one and just remove and fit the new one, about £250 or take it somewhere to get it done, around £500 to £600 cheers Joe
  24. hi really common on the s-types, the dccv fails and takes the climate module out as well cheers Joe
  25. hi the metal one is landrovers with the same gearbox unless your thinking of doing some serious off roading , then I would'nt bother the plastic one work quite well and if you use genuine zf part never leaks, only after market ones do. also the filter in the plastic one looks larger, the metal one is a smaller serperate filter cheers Joe
