  1. Hi Do you get any messages on the dash I would say your shifting some fluids to one side so I'd check, washer bottle, engine water, brake fluid or even engine oil don't this the power steering has a level sensor on it, but check it anyway cheers Joe
  2. Hi Its good that it comes apart, most don't cheers Joe
  3. Hi Could just be the anti roll bar mounts bushes, where the anti-roll bar is mounted to the body/sub frame, there a rubber bush in like a u clamp, if that was worn out it would give you them symptoms but could also be anti-roll bar as you say, but there quite thick if it has broke, I would of thought you would notice the car would be a lot more softer side to side and would roll at lot more cheers Joe
  4. Hi Transit relays are only fitted while the cars are in jaguars car from new, to isolate the battery when not in use, they are removed before handing over to the customer here a electrical diagram x2001999.25en.pdf if you look a power distribution, you can find what it feed and start checking for faults cheers Joe
  5. Hi you just login in as a guest, it will give you owners handbook ans spec for free cheers Joe
  6. Hi Dennis Jaguar wont keep any service history, the only service history will be with the car, if the none, then there none You can get the VIN number and type it in on jaguar TOPIX and it will give you the original spec and what country it was supplied to what engine does it have cheers Joe
  7. Hi Steve You could just unplug it and remove it its in a place, not easy to get at, thats why I assume, if you wanted to remove it, the alarm would sound as soon as you open the bonnet and would take a good ten minutes to get at. the sounder is also mounted inside a steel box/enclosure also if your handy, its usually the nicad inside that fails, I fixed these in the past by splitting the alarm sounder and changing the battery inside, which is a 6v nicad, then Ive used black polyurathane adhesive to stick the two halve back together cheers Joe
  8. Hi Could be one of many things really, you won't know for sure till they plug in and bring up the fault codes usually something like a missfire will cause it, so could be any thing like a duff plug, a coil pack, or even a split hose on the induction system it might be worth investing in a generic fault code reader, that will work on most cars and will tell you a code and fault, these are generally under £30 now you usually find, if you turn the ignition off and on it will clear the limp mode and drive normal and if you drive normal the fault wont come back, most faults occur when you have your foot hard down or under load, like going up steep banks, thats the favorite time for incorrect fueling, which causes misfires, which will cause the engine to go into limp mode, this protects the engine, as running lean, misfiring or pinking can damage the engine cheers Joe
  9. Hi Are you sure the anti roll bar has broken, or 1 of the two drop links has broken, which connect the anti roll bar to the suspension arm cheers Joe
  10. Hi later sub frame won't fit, it has to be the earlier one best option would to be phone or email some breaker if any body has a good, this is a common problem on the earlier rear sub frames and are getting hard to get now in good condition check ebay out as well, as you get people breaking s-types on there as well, there's also Dennis on here the jag den, try him cheers Joe
  11. hi mine is in engine bay, left front area, under the fusebox cheers Joe
  12. Hi Remanufactured alternators should be good, as it will be a jaguar alternator, just stripped and rebuilt usually bearing and brushes are changed and tested, better companies will offer longer guarantees most jaguars use smart alternators, so they can alter the output, so better economy can be achieved cheers Joe
  13. Hi I'd say the alarm sounder has failed, when the nicads inside them fail, they start to play up, the sensitivity can be adjust with IDS/SDD software you could get a second hand one but, the odds are the batteries/nicads would be on there last legs and you can't be sure it will work anyway and it will need programing they also do a alarm sounder/horn thats not battery backed and you never get any problems with it, but would also need programing with software the active one like yours, the nicads inside only usually last 5 years, so they do really well to last as long as it has usually when the alarm activates as well it flashes a different amount of times on the hazards light when you disarm, to tell you the alarm was activated cheers Joe
  14. Hi Get the battery load tested, but once they go completely flat, there never the same again You need to find the fault first, for a battery to go flat that fast you have some serious load, you need to connect the a ammeter to see what amps are been drawn and start pulling fuses til its gone, but it going flat that fast it could be alternator, its connected directly to the battery and when the rectifiers/diodes fail can cause that fault have a look here for typical battery current drains and time delay BATTCARE.pdf check any after markets addons, like stereo's, alarms etc cheers Joe
  15. Hi As peter said I have a local locksmith that does everthing to do with keys and also does car keys very competitive they can clone you existing key and at a much cheaper option, of a new program key, as no interfacing with the car is required, but they also do new programed keys and new programed remotes as well, all much much cheaper than the dealer I'd phone round a few lock smiths in the area and see whats the best deal you can get, also a lot are mobile now and they come to you its worth getting one, because if you lose the key, then only jaguar, or some one with jaguar IDS/SDD can program new ones its worth googling it in your area cheers Joe
  16. Hi Not too sure about the XJ8's, But start by have a good look in the engine bay Look for any loose connections, hoses that have come off or split hoses, check HT leads are on tight, if it has them Is there plenty of fuel in, or when was the last fuel filter changed, if there's any history with the engine cold, start it up, if you can get to the exhaust manifold are all the down pipe getting hot, have you lost a cylinder if there's nothing obvious then you may need to get it plugged in to see if there are any fault codes logged and you could try disconnecting the battery as it might clear any faults, check you have any stereo codes first cheers Joe
  17. Hi I would go online and get a quote, and with most sites you can add modifications and see what price difference it makes cheers Joe
