Hi I'd convert to solid flywheel, every time, fit and forget but you just said it makes the the noise when you slightly depress the clutch, that sounds like thrust bearing to me usually a failing dual mass will go quiet when slightly depressing the clutch are you sure the trust bearing was changed when it had a clutch, I'm sure they are a concentric cylinder type thrust bearing, they don't usually come with a clutch kit, with them being more expensive is there any way you can check the thrust bearing/concentric cylinder was replaced when the clutch was cheers Joe https://www.britishparts.co.uk/products/10838-slave-cylinder-C2S46903

  7. Hi I know its a bit late now since you have allready had a new clutch but you can get solid flywheels as a upgrade, if you do get it done and your keeping the car it might be worth considering cheers Joe

Hi Just check every thing works, test all the electrics work also take it for a test drive and make sure its get up to temperature and the fans kick in if its a 4wd x-type, I would recommend you get up to some speed , ideally a dual carriage way and 70mph, they you know if it smooth and quiet, you have no drive line issues also make sure you check the sills, some can rust terrible and are hidden by plastic covers also have a look here http://www.jaguarownersclub.com/forums/topic/9154-jaguar-x-type-buyers-guide/ cheers Joe

  10. Hi could be the connector on the sensor with damp in it, or a corroded connector it might be worth, just undoing the lower bumper fixing in the centre, you might have enough space just to get your arm in and get the sensor out and check the connections cheers Joe

Hi Sure they all have a dual mass flywheel if you look here https://www.britishparts.co.uk/t/jaguar/jaguar-x-type/gearbox they list the dual mass fywheel for both petrol and diesel if you look at the pics standard flywheels are all one piece, ones in the pics show separate centre, with rubber between the two, its the rubber that fails and they start to vibrate and move as the rubber perishes cheers Joe

Hi You can get a mongoose lead with Jaguar IDS/SDD for less than £100, Jaguar IDS/SDD is what jaguar use, IDS is for pre 2005 cars and SDD is for post 2005 cars, You can do every thing jaguar can as its the same I have one and its great for reading all fault codes from every module on the car, also program keys and add new fobs works with all jaguar models, up to about 2010 but if you use just for reading and reseting faults its fine, but if you mess with software updates to transmission , you can brick it, if you make a mistake I find it very usefull also if you have the touch screen display, you can also bring engine management faults up on that display and you can even bring up engine fault codes up on you dash board in engineer mode cheers Joe
  15. Hi most generic code readers will work but most will only read engine fault codes, the more expensive ones will also do transmission and abs faults but if your after just reading engine codes, thats fine cheers Joe

Hi If its not working its usually a battery issue it wont stop the engine, unless the battery meets a certain voltage/capacity level if it thinks the battery is low, then it wont work and this is still wrong time of year for your battery to be tip top, cold mornings, longer glowplug heater times, heated seats, heated screen, heaters, stereo I would put the battery on charge over night, no need to remove the battery, then start the car, use no accesories, no heater, lights, just the engine basically, then take it for a run till the engine is up to temp, then see if it works If it does start working for a short while, then your battery is most probably due for replacement, especially if the battery is over 3 years old on a diesel not sure on the xf, but on some start/stop cars, when you fit a new battery, there is facility to calibrate battery, for stop/start in manufacturers diagnostic software cheers Joe
  17. hi DPF pressure sensor the DPF pressure sensor basically looks at the pressure going into the DPF, when the pressure get up to a certain pressure it starts a regen of the DPF cheers Joe
  18. Hi If there's more than one sensor, then the OBD fault codes will state which one has failed you will need to plug in and get the fault code to know which one had a quick look at wiring diagram and there is only one DPF pressure sensor on the s-type cheers Joe

Hi Maybe not then, Do you get a clicking noise when you turn the key I just assumed it was cranking over and not starting starter motors are prone to sticking when stood for long periods suppose I would start with the basics, battery fully charged, fuel and fuel pump are running, spark and also its turning over cranking cheers Joe

Hi If you left the car with less than half a tank of fuel, the fuel drains out of the pump, as the fuel pump is quite high in the tank they can sometime go rusty slightly and seize up get you car battery fully charged, when you turn the ignition on, the fuel pump should come on for a few seconds and go off and then come on permanent when the engine starts keep the charger on it, dont try to start it till you hear the fuel pump cycle Ive seen this happen on a lot of cars that have stood usually switching the ignition on and off and keep cycling this will free the pump off, like I think it did on yours, once it starts you need let it run for a good while cheers Joe

Hi Same thing, you just driving the epb motor the other way, You need to check that the epb is working first, operate it manually like in the video with 12volts could be your calipers have gone stiff, remove cables and check calipers levers operate smoothly and are not seized check your cable are free and operate smoothly and with the cables off the calipers, check the epb operates smoothly, by operating the epb motor as in the video it will give a fault if the epb cannot reach a teached position for home hand brake released, if the epb cannot reach a teach position hand brake applied, if its slow reaching either position, if the epb motor goes over or under current and if the epb voltage is less than approx 10.2 volts if any thing is stiff, cables or calipers or epb, the epb will come up with a fault, the fault can be cleared just by unplugging the epb module in the boot, also shown in the video if the your operate the epb, with 12volts as in video, best way is with back wheels off the ground , if it apply's and realeses, locks both back wheels applying 12volts one way and releases, back wheel spin freely, 12 volts the other way, it could be a faulty module make sure you battery is fully charged, a low battery will give you many epb faults, also make sure the engine is running while you do any testing or moving the epb, or it will flatten your battery quickly also if its only intermitent, check the connector on the epb, make sure the connectors are not corroded, corroded connections with effect motor operation and motor position faults cheers Joe
