Hi Last time I looked they still listed it for the STR but when you contact them, they say they have stopped doing it, not enough demand cheers
-
HI yes you can check speed on the net like here http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=205&aspect=55&diameter=16&wheelwidth=6.5&offset=40&width2=235&aspect2=40&wheel_size=17&wheel_width=9-5&offset2=20#isPage=1

hi contacted racing green, was going to have it done, they don't do that conversion any more otherwise I would of had it done I assume the conversion is copied from the bmw's, as they use the exact same gearbox with paddle shift but saying that, the gearbox in mine is silky smooth and works really well in sport mode cheers joe

HI No, none at all, Russ just think the s-types and s-type R are a very under rated car cheers Joe
-
Hi Russ there is a massive difference between the 3.0 sport and STR Its not just the power, its the Torque the STR V8 produces, from way down in the revs , 553 Nm, 408 ft-lb of torque compared to 300 Nm on the 3.0 Thats 253 Nm more than the 3.0, the 2.5 v6 only produces 245 Nm you have to drive one to appreciate the jaguar V8, also the suspension is much stiffer on the STR some specs here for various model s-types http://www.parkers.co.uk/jaguar/s-type/saloon-1999/specs/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_S-Type just a quick comparison a Ferrari 458 coupe italia, 2016, only produces 540 Nm, 398 ft-lb out of its 562 bhp motor so 553 Nm is really good http://www.parkers.co.uk/ferrari/458/coupe-2010/italia-(hele)-2d-auto/specs/ cheers Joe

hi you can alter the circumference of the wheel in one of those settings just alter it one way or the other till you get the desired effect so if your speedo is reading slow decreasing the size, which will give you a faster higher speed reading,if your speedo is reading fast increase the size which will give you slower lower speed reading, compare it to a sat nav, like a tomtom because using satelites should be more accurate speed reading. never messed with it, but it should work cheers joe
-
HI Paul I'm sure you can change the wheel circumference in the diagnostic menus on the dash that will alter the speed displayed cheers joe
-
Hi All Saw this and found it very good. https://gasketcase.wordpress.com/2016/10/09/the-jaguar-s-type-r-britains-unsung-hero/ Cheers Joe

hi if its using oil and is not leaking, its either valve stem seals or piston rings valve stem seals will show more when you first start it, after its stood a bit, usually a bit of smoke on startup them it clears, it can show also if you coast in gear down a incline and then hit the throttle, small puff of smoke, its usually age with valve stem seals as they go hard and they pass a bit rings, will smoke on coasting and also when the engine is revved hard compression test will usually show how good the rings are and is quite easy to do next time your changing the plugs I've also known on quite a few cars for the crankcase breathers to block up, there usually on one of the cam covers, not sure on the jags would have to look, these block up, most modern cars usually have some kind of valve that slightly pressurise the system and then vent off into the induction system, so any vapors are burnt off. problem is as they get older the filter/gauze blocks up and you get much higher pressure in the crankcase, this causes the vapors to be forced past the piston rings cause smoke and excessive oil consumption cheers Joe

hi that sounds like starter motor if you have a manual car you could try putting it in gear and rocking the car the starter is a pre engaged type so the solenoid on the starter engages, In then mover the starter gear into the flywheel, when the gear is engaged the starter spins by a contact that is made, when the gear has has full travel by rocking the car in gear, it will move the flywheel slightly and if it the starter not engaging right, it might cure the problem cheers joe

hi still might be battery, weather getting colder and the glow plugs will be staying on longer and will be sucking that battery down I'd be tempted to charge the battery overnight and check the voltage across the battery with the engine running, should be above 14 volts, when running, just incase the alternator is on its way if you charge and its runs great for a few day, I'd replace the battery cheers joe

Cheap, high mileage S-Type R, should I ?

HI They do sound ok, but there a bit louder, than the adamesh one and can do your head in on long runs to give you a idea, you could remove the rear silencers and take it for a drive, that would give you a good idea of straight through pipes cheers joe -
hi whats up with it cheers joe

Hi just looked at the adamesh rear silencers There £450 Now!!!!!, when i got them they were only £299 and that was less than 12 months ago I replaced my rear silencers, just for the sound, its a bit of a rip off really there's less than £100 worth of materials in the rear silencers and they want £450 for them for the replacement high flow cats, the materials come to just under £200 and shops want £1100 for them if you have one made Jon, make sure they use mandrel formed bends, as some exhaust makers just use a pipe bender and they partially crush the pipe, where you would actually get a loss in power cheers joe -
Hi Ann If its just the heater Fan, then it should be a easy fix there's plenty on ebay If the noise is coming from the fan and it gets louder as you turn up the fan speed, it could be just the heater fan as for the heater all ways hot, its usually the heater valve , the valve fails and lets hot water constantly into the heater, these are also on ebay, I'd go for a new one not used, you dont know what your getting when you buy used. but you need to make sure you get the right heater valve as there is a couple of different types I think all the heater fans are the same and I'm sure its in one of the foot wells and easy to access, if you were thinking of changing the whole heater, it would be a dash out and would be quite more expensive a half descent garage should be able to identify where the noise is coming from heater fans on ebay vary from 20 to 30 pounds and the heater valves vary from 80 to 135 pounds also can recomend british car parts, they are very reasonable https://www.britishparts.co.uk/t/jaguar/jaguar-s-type here some examples of fan and heater valve

hi if your after the V8 burble, then the adamesh rear silencers is a cheaper option I going to make replacement cats and centre section in summer, out of stainless, replace the 600 cell cats with 200 cell high flow ones, you get good gains from replacing the cats I've got the adamesh silencers and they sound superb and there not too loud on a run when cruising cheers joe -

Fitted Led Drl Indicators Today S-Type
JOE-DOT-COM replied to JOE-DOT-COM's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
hi no did not fit any, just used genuine jaguar relays, some relays have diodes built in, but have not checked whether these have you generally put the diode across the relay contacts, so when the contact open, the diode get rid of the voltage spike, generally on heavier inductive loads, you don't need them on a coil, its too small and because the coil has a resistance that will stop this, also the relays coil resistance also fools the control unit in thinking the bulb is healthy have just completed a complete rear light led conversion, they look really well, will have to post some pics up cheers joe -
hi yes its like a cobble up, fitting wheels that not designed to be fitted if you want to fit them you need, wobble nuts, but if they dont fit the hub tight the whole wheel will wobble I personally would not recommend using these, not on a heavy car like a s-type, but its your car cheers joe

hi when you say the oil should last a lifetime manufacturers only rate the lifetime of a car at 10 years, so if its over 10 years old its done its job and due to be replaced so depending on what gearbox you have, if your going to keep the car, it may be worth while changing oil and filter on the zf 6HP26 people have had different results some people have improvement in driving, some people see no change, if it done by a dealer, software is checked and updated if software is old and also adaptations are reset, which basically resets the memory, so the gearbox learns how to change gear again and remembers your driving style I changed my oil, filter, pins and mecha sleeve on the 6HP26, on my s-type and it did make it smoother on mine cheers joe

Hi Jon Its the one that goes from the back of the thermo stat housing to the throttle body, that usually goes, named the valley pipe, early hoses were one piece and they ballooned right by the thermo stat housing, where the hose went from the large size of the stat and then reduced size, later hoses are in two pieces with a plastic adapter that changes the size of the pipe, later ones are much less prone to failing also when you look at the part list, for hoses, there is a large number of hoses on the s-type r In summer, I going to change my valley pipe and go to evans waterless coolant, I've used it in other cars and bikes and it very impressive , you get no pressure in the system what so ever, when the engine is running and the fan is on, you can just unscrew your expansion tank cap and nothing happens, as there is no pressure and you never need to change it again, well recomended, but its a not cheap on the STR as you need twice the amount of coolant as it holds quite a lot cheers Joe -

Hi Jon I got my valley pipe from sng barret it was about £14 pounds I wish a company would do a full silicone hose set for the s-type R, that would sort any future problems with hoses cheers joe -
