Hi I would be interested in the idea, but its too far for me really, over 3 1/2 hours away and its too expensive for me I have donnington park near me and its quite a bit cheaper there for track days trouble as well is if you book the day, you cant guarantee the weather cheers Joe

Hi Jon What made you go for the EBC Yellow stuff I'm thinking of changing all my pads, but not sure what for, the brakes work perfect on the car, I'm just fed up of cleaning the wheels, after one day the wheels are covered in dust, I took them out to check them and there jaguar pads cheers Joe

hi when you changed the filter did you fill the filter and both lines with diesel if you get a air lock it wont start when you take it off, first fill one line, then put the filter on, fill the filter with diesel, fill the other line and clip it on if it starts and cuts out repeat the above, don't keep cranking the car, because if the injector pump runs too long without diesel, it can damage it cheers joe

boost leak but where and how to get to it

hi if its still running then it cant be a bad one could be just a split hose, have a good feel round them for splits, usually the bottom edge, oil in the hoses make them go soft there and pop and you usually get a gushing sound when a hose splits on a turbo car, on boost, try not to get it to boost if your still using the car, as the cars turbo uses pressure in the inlet manifold usually to control boost and the waste gate and because if you have a split hose, you actually never get any pressure so the turbo will spin faster than normal to try to make boost and could destroy itself, turbo's spin from the 40000 to 100000 rpm usually and with a split hose these rpms can double and damage themselves if you cant find it the old fashion way feeley feeley, then in the past ive used dampstart, let it idle and spray it around the hoses, when you get near the split hose, the dampstart will make the revs raise, this works on petrol and diesels cars cheers joe -
Hi Paul this is a easy one, remove the grey or white bit from inside the connector, top picture, hard to tell color from pic, terminal screwdriver just flick it out then under that, under each terminal, there a little square slot, in there a little plastic clip/catch that holds the terminal in you want a bit on thin wire about 1mm, paper clip will do, with the end slightly flat, slide it in and move the clip away from the terminal and pull the wire out the white/grey bit sits under the clip and is like a lock, so the clips cant be unlocked and the wire fall out cheers joe

hi paul I've used a vacuum hand pump for years, I have a mityvac but copies are available for less than £15 now there great your can bleed brakes and clutch, one man, no need for anybody to press the brake pedal they work especially well on motorcycles as the master cylinder move so little fluid it can take forever to bleed them cheers joe

hi also are you sure the servo is good there dual circuits, and if one fails the second set of seals inside the master cylinder is suppose to work, which is usually with a very low pedal position its either got air in or you might have a faulty servo, was it new or used cheers Joe

Hi Brian yes its got the staggered zeus wheels, 275 35 18 rear and 245 40 18 front I got one of the fronts with 245 40 18 matching the tyres on the car it will fit both front or back and will still look descent and good traction compared to razor blade they call a space saver, there no way you could do any distance on that the front zeus fits in the boot well perfect as well The rear wheel I think wont fit the front as its way too wide and it definately would not fit in the boot cheers Joe -

No they fit, I've seen lots of people using them on Str on other forums, the only 10 mm wider, but must be a more popular size as there always cheaper Cheers Joe

Hi Jon I'm running continental sport contact 3, as jaguar recommend there ok, both dry and wet but they don't grip as good as i would like, you notice when pulling out of junctions, the traction control holds the car back a lot and its hard to pull out fast on a junction unless you turn the traction control off also a lot of people fit 285 35 18 as well, as there cheaper and the slightly fatter tyre protect the rims better as they protrude slightly more, the 285's must be more popular when my wear out, think I will look towards Pirelli's p zero or goodyear eagle f1, both of these get good recommendations, but will have to look more into it when the time comes closer cheers Joe

Hi All Just got a full size spare alloy wheel, to replace the daft space saver but now the tool kit foam won't fit inside the wheel Anybody on here got a full size spare, If so I'm after the part number of the tool kit foam, its right at the top in one corner, or if any body knows the part number that would be even better thanks Joe

hi It will work because its oil, but wont last if its used hard you also have to remember, when you drain the ZF gearbox oil, you can only get about 5.5 litres out, but the gearbox holds 10 litres so your only adding some of the oil, It wont fail instantaneously and if driven sensible could still last years, but if driven hard, it will fail. the lifeguard 6 is chosen for extended protection,life and smoothness I bet it does not drive as nice as it should, I bet the shifts are a lot harsher cheers joe

Hi I working on converting the rear lights to LED I bought a set of rear light lamp holders to modify to accept led lamps, so it can be put back to standard if required I using the same bulbs above for the reverse and indicator, so both indicator and reverse will come on at the same time, as both lenses are clear, both will light up orange when indicators are on and both will light up white, when in reverse also both side lights, will have brake lights, as standard only the outer side lights come on when braking will let you know when there done cheers joe -
Hi Paul at the end of the day, oil is oil, basically the gearbox is a hydraulic pump, solenoid valves and clutches so it will work because its a oil, so you will get oil pressure, valves and clutches will operate, but theres many intricate part that are not designed for that oil but remember this gearbox is used in the s-type r, which pushes over 400 BHP through it, whilst it will work, in a car used daily with no abuse run hard and your going to get severe wear, atf just aint up to it remember it was supposed to be sealed for life, so the oil they fitted was the best available and was designed to last many years atf has to be changed regular, as it degrades fast with heat and abuse the question is, "would you put it in your gearbox ?", I know I would definately would not use it mine, I would only use Lifeguard 6, as Jaguar recommend also the zf 6 speed, has the ecu built in and is constantly emmersed in trans oil, which must make it a special oil my next question "would you buy a car off someone who you know has used atf in his zf trans" To me its like using Tesco engine oil in a ferrari, these gearboxes were fitted to jaguars, landrovers, audis, mercedes, maseratis are just a few, its just penny pinching this how cars get bad names, people doing there own maintenance using far inferior parts than recommended and wonder why they break. cheers Joe

Hi The best upgrade I'd say are I fitted Adamesh rear silencers they make the V8 sound absolutely great and there not too loud, just a nice V8 burble at motorway cruising speeds there barely noticeable well recomended cheers Joe

Hi I had to do mine as well makes quite a difference I had to replace the adjusters inside the headlights as one side had broke, common problem, replacement adjusters on ebay do the self leveling still work, every time you switch the ignition on they go all the way up and down then level, if you switch the lights on first then the ignition, you can see the beams go up then down, level sensors on the front and rear suspension sometimes fail, I changed my bulbs for 8000k ones, there slightly blue and look better cheers Joe

Cheap, high mileage S-Type R, should I ?

hi Jon I was going to go with a 10% pulley upgrade but Most of the people I know who have done it, say the intercooler cant cope with the extra boost and it causes the engine to get to hot, which causes other failures, which would means upgraded intercoolers and or larger intercooler radiator up front, getting expensive now and you don't get massive power from the 10% pulley I'm going with high flow cats 200 cell ones, standard cats are very very restrictive, together with kn filter inside the standard airbox , replacement inlet pipe and a descent remap, will see more power gains, with good reliability manifolds are also restrictive but these are also quite expensive to replace cheers Joe -
hi when was the last time you replaced the pollen filter, as they get old and dirty they do cause the air flow to drop cheers Joe

Hi If its only a small leak It might be worth having a look and just nipping the bolts up they might be loose and could be a quick fix, I'd try it first cheers Joe
