  1. hi dont think the keyfob can do that usually when there is feedback from a keyfob the it would indicate on your dash with a message saying keyfob battery is low usually the main things are a dodgy door that does not lock, interior ultrasonic sensors, a window is open, boot is open or bonnet is open if you look in your handbook, it should tell you what to look for, ie on my car s-type, if you leave something open the indicators flash a certain number of times to let you know, also when the alarm sound and you disarm it the indicators flash again certain amount of times to let you know your alarm was triggered cheers joe
  2. hi pezzer have you looked under your car to see what been replaced, ie which half shaft (drive shaft) I dont see how a half shaft can throw up a transmission fault, the 2 half shafts connect the hub to the diff in the middle, there are no sensors on the propshaft, no sensors on either half shaft(drive shaft), no sensors on the diff, the only sensors are on the hubs abs sensors, to throw a fault up on abs or dsc, one sensor has to stop working or you get speed difference any sensor and the abs operate or the dsc operates so for this to come on either the diff would have to fail or the half shaft(drive shaft) would have to snap, which would mean you would lose all drive, due to these cars having a diff even if one of the cv joints had failed you still dont usually get any faults, just becomes very noisey just wondered if you had looked what had been replaced cheers Joe
  3. hi check the bonnet switch also, make sure the bonnet is pressing down on it cheers
  4. Hi All stop start systems monitor battery voltage and if your battery is getting old and not holding charge correctly, then the stop/start system will not work as often its a good sign of battery condition, the more often the stop/start works, the better the battery condition new battery should cure it, unless there's some kind of callibration jaguar do with the software plugged in, it all depends how much you like the stop/start, personally I dont like it, as it can cause more harm than good, there only put on now days to make claim to better mpg's and they bring the road tax band down aswell, but every time the engine stops, so does the charging system, so extra load on the battery and electrics, also when engine stops, so does the water pump, so the engine it self becomes hotter, especially around the cylinders and cylinder head, your air con stops and then when you engine starts, theres the extra load of everything having to catchup, battery has to charge up, load on aternator, air con and cooling sytem, it just put extra load on all the engine components they say that the most wear happens when an engine starts up, there might be a difference starting once or twice and compared to twenty plus times anyway I think a new battery should fix it cheers Joe
  5. hi looking on ebay cats for your car look at about £80 each dont know if you will get away with changing 1 or the pair if your in good knick and your thinking of keeping it £160 for a pair of cats is not badly priced compared to a genuine set cheers Joe
  6. hi I'd try ebay, you can your parts number from here http://www.sngbarratt.com/CatalogueSections.aspx?m=49 also could be lambda sensors, a failed lambda will cause high emissions what did it fail on CO, CO2, HC or O2 cheers Joe
  7. Hi You can turn the alarm off by opening the door and switching the ignition on cheers joe
  8. hi do you know what fault codes were reset, might point you in the right direction also if the xj is anything like a s-type, if the battery gets low, it can throw up many faults and codes they might of charged the battery, cleared the fault codes and hey presto its ok ( till 3 weeks later ) I'd be tempted check the battery, it should be over 14 volts when running and never below 12 volts when not running. battery is a common problem on s-types, if you have over 14 volts when running, could be just battery. cheers Joe
  9. Hi yes no problem, just remove the plastic cover and there a hole at the end, you could just push it in and have a good look also the end is only 5.5mm, so would fit in the holes along the sill aswell cheers Joe
  10. hi I bought one of these a few week ago, to check the condition of the valley pipe on my STR brilliant, under a tenner, 5m long, just 5.5mm round, take pictures, video, has led light on the end and its even water proof comes with hooks for the end, magnet and a 90 deg mirror just plug into your phone, picture quality is brill, plug and play cheers Joe
  11. hi try british car parts, ive had a few bits off them and you get a good service and good parts https://www.britishparts.co.uk/ cheers joe
  12. Remind me not to buy your car when it comes up forsale, LOL!!
  13. hi I have bosch twin aeros 18" and 22" they fit perfect, easy to install and are about £18 off ebay also earlier s-type wiper arms can bend, later ones are a straight fit and are stronger, earlier ones bend, at the bottom and when they bend they rub the bonnet edge, which will cause it to rust. cheers joe
  14. hi what engine does your car have cheers
  15. Hi if it has them fitted and they dont work, the wd40 usually cures them if they have seized' I'd keep re applying it for a couple of weeks till it really soaks then like raistlin say apply some oil and try to fold them every time you park and they will stay free best method would be to retro fit the auto fold mod, that would fix them for good cheers Joe
  16. hi did any one go Tatton park car show today there were a lot of Jaguar's there today, too many to count, first time ive been Tatton park car show, it was massive, cars, classics, modern, milItary and every thing in between. there were a lot of s-type's there, wondered if any body here cheers Joe
  17. hi I found it fairly easy, top hoses use spring type hose clamps, a pair of long nose pliers do the trick the tricky one is the bottom hose, as its a quick release type, you push a tab in, then it slides off, only problem is theres not much space cheers joe
  18. hi paul I dont think ive seen a 2007 one without a touchscreen, I thought they were standard by that time cheers
  19. Hi I think its going to be a warm one.
  20. Hi I'm sure because yours is 2007, it will all be plug and play at worse case, you will need someone with sdd software just, to plug in which will tell all the other modules it has sat nav, so things like jaguar voice will work properly with it I'm sure all the wiring will be there someone else on here hopefully will come it and confirm it I take it, it has the touch screen cheers Joe
  21. hi have you tried, driving the window to the top and then pressing and holding the up button for a few seconds, so it reteaches the top position I have to do this to reset the one touch up after a battery been disconnected cheers joe
  22. Hi Barrie The only thing i can suggest is see what other XKR go for of similar age and spec and then adjust the price compared to the condition of yours take plenty of pictures, underside as well, when you sell it, put all the service history on there and what been done to yours your car looks well above average condition, like i said if you put plenty of picture on your add, the car will sell itself I would sell it on ebay, classified ad,as not to get hit with fees, as its got the best audiance and reaches more people, but you can only put 12 pics on there, so use something photobucket or dropbox and put links on there to all your pics cheers Joe
  23. Hi Kevan looks great, but its too far for me I,m going Tatton park show, as is not far from me and its a great show. http://events.tattonpark.org.uk/viewEvent.aspx?eid=53923&s=636005952000000000&e=636006816000000000
  24. Hi Mike I just use WD40 its good on the electrics, it waterproofs and helps with every thing with the mirrors, just pop the covers off and spray all the mech with WD40 if you help the mirror to fold it should eventually start to move cheers joe WD-40_2000_uses.pdf
  25. hi you can pay anything from £500 to £2500 for a paint job, depending on where you take it I think you would get a decent job for £1000 to £1500, get a few prices and look at some of the jobs they have done there most places will have some sort of portfolio of cars and pictures, they have done and usually there proud of what they have done cheers joe
