  1. Hi Neville I think the diff on the xf is similar to the diff on the S-type R That says sealed for life that has oil spec M2C192A 75W90 theres just over a litre in there oil cost me about £25 for good quality castrol oil only problem is there is no drain plug, I assume the "sealed for life" nonsense I used a oil extraction pump and sucked it out of the fill/level plug, only took an hour all in to do the job, start to finish so should not cost you much at a garage, would only take 30 mins to replace with the use of a ramp thanks Joe
  2. Hi All found a site with some really good S-type info Thanks Joe http://www.jagrepair.com/S-TypeTSB.htm
  3. Hi This oil does not meet A5 spec, jaguar recomend oil that meets wss-m2c913-b which is usually A5 spec oil this oil here is not A5, so why would one use this oil in our Jaguar's cheers Joe

  5. Hi If I was you I would take the old one apart and see if you can fix it if you do, take some pictures, ive not seen what inside one cheers Joe
  6. Hi It might be a intermittant fault, which when clears, the fault code also does I'd of thought if there going to be a fault, its going to be on the EPB motor unit unless its a bad connection, but basically its a motor thats going be driven to a certain torque and position its going to be either the encoder positioner or internal connections/soldered joints inside when you think how many operations this gets, the motor inside going to get lots motor brush dust unfortunately its the most expensive part
  7. hi so where do you get a fault message cheers joe
  8. hi paul options you can switch on and off here are some pics off IDS these are under dealer options
  9. hi Paul what fault code do you get on sdd cheers
  10. Hi Richard just had a quick look at the wiring, the wiring goes from the wiper motor to the fuse box, so it should be easy to find I'd check relay 15 and 16 first and then fuses I'd also check that the wiper motor connector has a good earth try a local auto electrician, they should be able to fix it cheers Joe
  11. Hi ok cheers, just wondered if there were upgraded speaker for premium cheers
  12. Hi make sure your battery connections are clean and tight cheers Joe
  13. Hi Paul What speakers did you fit premium or upgraded speaker cheers Joe
  14. Hi If there adamesh back boxes there stainless steel there's no plating on them, just polished stainless I'd only use the wire wool/scotch brite on the inside black dirty part then something like autosol polish on the shiny outside of the tail pipe cheers Joe
  15. Hi andy There quite straight forward to fit, most of them plug in the cigerette socket, better ones you can hardwire in basically you mount front and rear cameras and then run the wires around the screen, tuck it in the trim, down the dash then under the door step plastic trims to the rear cam the same, up the side of the seat, around the screen to rear cam most have a rechargeable battery built in, so when you switch ignotion on cameras come on, when ignition goes off they just shutoff in there own time under there own battery I added a link at the bottom, it same sort of money as the one your looking at, but has front collision warning built in, for when you get to close to the car in front, it has lane depature warning, for when you drifting out of lane on motorways and also has all speed camera warnings built in, these can be switch off as well if you looking at that on have a look at this one as well http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THINKWARE-F750-Complete-Kit-Front-Rear-Car-Charger-Hard-Wire-32GB-64GB-/301799655597?hash=item4644a948ad:g:uHkAAOSwuAVWy0QZ cheers Joe
  16. Hi Simon did you fit the pads your self I've known that sometimes if you fit new pads to worn discs, heavy initial braking can cause the lining to come off the pad plate if you get discs with high ridges or raised ridges at the outer and inner edges of the disc, if heavy braking is used when there new, you have a gap in the middle of the pad when you brake, it squashes the pad to meet the disc and will flex the pad enough sometimes to break the lining off the pad I'd replace pads, discs and even the brake cables, I'm sure you can replace discs, pads and cables for about £150 from british car parts, which is quite cheap for a modern car here https://www.britishparts.co.uk/t/jaguar/jaguar-s-type , I've used them and quality is good cables when they get old, can stick at randoms times, they might only stick once in ten times, but that once will destroy the pads and maybe discs and calipers, also when they wear, they get water in them and on frosty morning, I've seen these cable stick, because of water frozen in them cheers joe
  17. Hi chrome cleaner will work, or a bit of wire wool or even a scotchbrite with wd40 will fetch the black out the adamesh ones from new come with different rubber hangers so the gap between trim and bumper is better try to leave a even gap around the tail trim, as the tail trim does get quite hot and will melt your bumper, if its touching cheers joe
  18. Hi David you need also to check the temp, just in case its the temp sender, You need to check that you fans are kicking in on the radiator what engine is fitted to your car, as some s-types have aux pumps that improve cooling you really need to sort this, as if it overheats fully, blowing all the water out, you can warp the heads and even pop headgaskets if your fans are not working, it might just be that simple as fuses, fault radiator fan switch or a faulty fan if fans are kicking in then it could be something more serious, like thermostat stuck shut, water pump or worse case sennario, head gasket can cause overheating if your not too handy with cars, your local garage should be able to diagnose this quite straight forward switching the air con on usually makes the car heat up quicker or overheat, if you have cooling issues, as the air con condensor is sat infront of the rad, when air con is on the condensor will get hot and when the fans kick in, hot air is blown onto the rad, causing to overheat cheers Joe
  19. Hi I have a pair of the adamesh rear silencers on my S-type R and they sound ggggrrrrrrreat, its much better, now its sounds like a V8 Nice and easy to fit, aswell and much lighter cheers Joe
  20. Hi Paul Yes your right as long as the in and out fibre's are the right way round to the modules the modules can be mounted any place in the loop I altered all mine to get the neatest path and best route in the boot, where the mass of modules are cheers Joe
  21. Hi I bet it a bad batch of disks with soft spots that have worn first you need get a vernier on them and measure them, check the thickness at even distance if there any difference in the sizes, then it disks cheers Joe
  22. Hi Most generic obd reader will read engine fault codes but 99% won't read anything else, only engine fault codes so if you want one that reads everything then its got be one like mongoose lead with software mongoose is a pc based diagnostic system and can do most things dealers can but theres a few versions, best versions is v130, v131 that will do all jaguars, later versions suit later cars and wont cover pre 2005 cars its has two programs in it IDS for pre 2005 cars and SDD for post 2005 cars and just be aware that it needs to be installed on a windows xp professional computer/laptop, it won't work on anything else, some sellers offer software that will run on all windows, windows 7 windows 8, but it uses a windows xp pro emulator and this can be very glitchy , freezes, slow and akward to do normal things screen captures I use it and its the best out there for fault finding as it shows fault codes, reasons and remedys but be aware you can do some serious damage with this, if you try updating modules, if it fails, you can brick modules its good for fault finding though and the only other thing theres very little info out there on how to use it cheers Joe
  23. Hi the jumping into gear sounds like the j gate to gearbox cable has come loose I take it your boot dry, no water in the control units but the only way to tell is to plug in and see what fault codes you have cheers joe
  24. Hi Frank I try not to raise my car from the sills, I allways lift the car where the subframe mounting points are, I also used a 1" thick rubber pad on my trolley jack you can also keep the area your lifting waxoyled up, so it wont corrode in the future its more solid place of lifting the car and doing less damage, the sills is only usually for emergency use, with the jack in the boot, for wheel change only The pad in the picture, protects the seam of the sill, but if used on the s-type, it will crush the plastic sill cover and also the plastic floor cover aswell, not sure on the xf though cheers Joe
