  1. Hi Peter, Are you going, I'd love to go but I think I'm on call on them dates but will have a look in to going, sounds good cheers Joe
  2. Hi Bill Heater valve, if hot air coming out, that means hot water is passing No point looking at aircon if hot air coming out Heater Valve is a common problem cheers Joe
  3. Hi All Gave my S-type R a full service today, changed all the oils and filters and now its all ready for summer The V8 runs so sweet and it allways puts a big grin on my face, the Adamesh silencers sound great One thing I did find, was how easy it was to change the 8 spark plugs on the V8 was, I did find it strange how there was not a drain plug on the diff, oil has to be sucked out through the level plug The only job I've got left now is the famous Valley pipe under the supercharger, which I will do once the weather warms up soon cheers Joe
  4. HI I main goal is shine, I want the best shine i can get I use some waxes and it does look no better after cheers Joe
  5. Hi Jaguar recomend oil that meets the grade WSS-M2C913-B and usually its 5w30 castrol magnatec A5 grade meets that it will say jaguar ford WSS-M2C913-B have a look on opie oil, theres for the jaguar all say meet WSS-M2C913-B I dont think the one you have used will do any harm short term, but oil are designed to meet engine designs emisions and correct oils keep the engine internals cleaner and protect better due to meeting the engine design specs, like some engines are designed to burn small amounts of oil, to protect rings and bores, the oil that burns is made so that it wont soot the engine or damage cats or sensors cheers Joe
  6. Hi Shane What revs is it shifting at My S-type R, when driven lazy, all ways shifts at 1500 RPM and depending on how much you press the accelerator pedal, effect what rpm it shifts at, but with the "S" pressed it make the shifts at higher rpm, and if you press the pedal all the way, so it hits the limit switch at the bottom, it wont shift till revs top out also if you speedo is not working right or you have fault lights on, it can confuse the shifts as they go off speed, revs and throttle position also get the oil level checked, because if its low, at speed the oil is thrown every where and the oil starvation can make it do strange things cheers Joe
  7. Hi Miles I've got a question What can i use on my wheels, there all ways covered in brake dust, clean them and a few hours later, there covered again is there anything out there that makes the wheels non stick and stay cleaner for more than a day many thanks Joe
  8. Hi if its the zf 6HP26, I think the gearboxes are the same, Torque converter might be different and ecu's will have different software but looking on sng site http://www.sngbarratt.com/CatalogueSections.aspx?m=49 they all have different part numbers so you might want to contact a ZF dealer who could confirm this for sure cheers Joe
  9. Hi Peter I have a mongoose cable and IDS is for pre 2005 and SDD for post 2005 cars And IDS does show faults, possible reasons and remedy's for the fault If your thinks of buying a mongoose cable if your car is pre 2005 then you want versions V130 or V131 later version dont allways support pre 2005 cars and the cause of the dreaded lurch, is usually software issue related to the auto box, latest updates cures this and a local jaguar indy near me charges £80 for the software update and adaptions reset but one thing to remember is that mongoose can do some serious damage if just used for faults codes and clearing them its fine, but if your thinking of updating software as in auto box software and you get it wrong, then you can brick the auto box ecu, or any ecu that you trying to update, cheers Joe
  10. Hi Jon there basically a ford item, so many ford use them, try ebay also you can get them off ebay, ford ones , look exact the same heated, so no more frozen washer jets, nice upgrade cheers joe
  11. Hi CBers its just usually done to help with emissions, on big petrol cars usually I would say "If its not broke, leave it alone" but I don't think it could do any harm, I'd spend it on a service instead basically all they do is pull the fuse for the fuel pump and then connect there kit to the fuel rail and feed in there fuel/additive into the fuel rail at pressure and start the car so your running on the fuel out of a can off there kit basically, so its going be fuel, with additives in, dont know how well it works, but lets say it works and cleans all you ports, injectors, valves and pistons, where does all that crap end up, bouncing around your cylinder, in your expensive lambda sensors or clogging up your cat basically its like redex you put in your fuel, but you pay 20 fold for it I don't know, it could well be fine but ive allways been uneasy from squirting unknown fuels in a known good running engine let us know how you go on, cheers joe
  12. Hi Julie A keen diy mechanic could do this job, theres a fair bit of work, but as long has they have a descent set of axle stands to support the body and a pair of trolley jacks, and half descent tool kit, they should manage obviously a car ramp would make life more easier but once the basics are disconnected like propshaft from diff, bottom of shockers, brake calipers unbolted, pipes unclipped and supported, abs sensors unplugged, rear exhaust removed the whole subframe can be lowered complete and pulled out of the way and the all parts swapped over onto new subframe I would say a garage would do this in half a day and allow a full days work for a good diy mechanic as long as you dont get any complications, like a stubborn bolt on a suspension arms if you get quotes, get them email pics of the item so you can see condition of the subframe, any descent breaker or parts suppliers will do this cheers Joe
  13. hi Julie these sub frames are readily available second hand and can be found in very good condition if your going to have one fitted labor going to be the same and using a second hand one could save you a fortune its worth considering, its going to be a genuine part, so it will fit sub frame should not be welded really, its structural and all the suspension hangs off it rear is not really a big job to change, for a garage you would have to have a phone round here's a example of rear sub frame prices £65 delivered compared to over £700 new it all depends whats out there, its worth ringing around cheers Joe
  14. hi why are you having it terracleaned are you have problems with emmisions for mot most people have there car terracleaned when there struggling with emissions just before a mot cheers joe
  15. hi try google it might come up with something cheers
  16. Hi Andy if your car faces down the slope, I'd check the boot first tops of the back lights cheers Joe
  17. Hi Gordon Its says its the right stuff and also states ZF 6HP26 and even quotes ZF Lifeguard 6 It might be ok and I dont know whether it will mix with whats allready in as when you change the oil in a 6HP26 the gearbox holds 10 litres but when you drain it, you only actually get just over 6 litres out, so that means theres about 4 litres left in I would'nt use it in my Jag, but every body to there own I save all the receits for my car, for every thing purchased and this can make a big difference to selling the car cheers Joe
  18. Hi and welcome post some pics up, cheers Joe
  19. Hi Paul there mainly for starting but there easy to check if you remove the connector or wiring from each one in turn, I'd disconnect battery for safety reasons the resistance should be very low like 0.05 ohms to 1.5 ohms resistance with a meter if you have a dc clip on ammeter you can check there pulling current in amps without disconnecting anything they usually go open circuit, basically burn out, cheep glow plugs can last as little as 12 month known brands can last years cheers joe
  20. hi depends what you want, if you want a nice smooth ride, these arn't for you these will have much lower profile tyres and the ride will be much harsher and more road noise they should fit but overall size might be different, if the outer size is much bigger then it will effect your speed reading cheers joe
  21. HI Barry I take it then it makes the whine when its stationary, as power steering pump, will be engine speed linked at a certain revs and will do it in every gear at a certain revs if it does not do it stationary and only does it when driving, then it can't be power steering pump personally how you've described it 20 to 50 mph, I'd say it likely be a prop shaft support bearing diffs usually get louder, wheel bearings usually get louder and worsen quickly what you really need is it on a ramp, with the back wheels up and spin it up speed and see where its coming from when it makes the whine does it get louder when you put more power on cheers joe
  22. HI your a bit of a drive away from me, so that would be a no. I only do mine because, I don't trust most garages, at least if I have done it myself, I know its been done and done right. you see that many things done wrong at garages, they don't treat your car nice, there's that many video's now, off dash cams where people have gone in for service work and there car only get abused, I know it now all garages, its nice if you know someone who works at a garage who you can trust to do work. cheers Joe
  23. Hi Andy have a look here http://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=36529 cheer Joe
  24. hi there one here, needs a quick respray, but its reasonably priced cheers Joe http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-OEM-Jaguar-S-Type-Triton-18-Spare-Alloy-Wheel-Tyre-4R831007DA-/272168985213?hash=item3f5e89227d:g:n7oAAOSwxp9W5fjx or http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-OEM-Jaguar-S-Type-Triton-18-Spare-Alloy-Wheel-Tyre-4R831007DA-/272168987947?hash=item3f5e892d2b:g:HrYAAOSwu1VW5fml or http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-S-TYPE-ALLOY-WHEEL-18-INCH-X-8-TRITON-10-SPOKE-RIM-/162013013342?hash=item25b8ba655e:g:xHIAAOSwZQxW5afV or this ones a bit pricey http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALLOY-WHEEL-RIM-18-inch-Jaguar-S-Type-TRITON-10-SPOKE-XR831513-6455-/291649176663?hash=item43e7a54457:g:w64AAOSwUdlWgvG1
  25. HI The british diagnostics mongoose lead i can recommend, it can read every module on the car for fault codes, reset them and for about £70 of ebay from british diagnostics, is well worth it but you have to be carefull as you can damage things as well, but if you use just to read and clear faults its great, it also gives you a fault code, possible reasons and how to remedy generic obd readers generally only read engine fault codes, not many will read more than engine and gearbox. you need to know the fault code, before any idea of fixing it, something as simple a intermittent fault on a sensor could throw up a fault on the box and engine cheers joe
