Hi Brian As Andrew said, I think the sills rust problem, is on earlier cars, later cars are much better I've got a s-type and they were the same, I had a good look took a small mirror to have a look behind them plastic covers even though when i got it home, I removed the covers for peace of mind and they were fine, but while they were off i sprayed a load of cavity wax inside them lower mileage is all ways better, service history is must , but just have a look at the car, simple things like tyres, if it got good branded tyres, its been look after, budget tyres means skinflint. cheers joe

Hi I changed my own auto box oil myself, on my s-type R, zf 6HP26 I bought a kit, genuine zf kit, £197, for that you get 7 litres of zf lifeguard 6, 1 genuine sump filter, set of new sump pins and the mechatronics connector sleeve. was not that bad of a job to do, but you do need to have your car well supported in the air, for a good while with it running while you fill the box up and then you have to wait till it gets up to temp, before doing the last full check. personally I dont recommend mixing oil and I would stick with zf lifeguard only, because when you change the box oil, you can only get about 6 and half litres of oil back out and the box holds 10 litres, so thats means your mixing 6 and half litres on new clean oil with 3 and half litres of original zf oil so if your changing to a different manufacturer of oil, your mixing them, which is never recommended by any garage mixing oils is usually a no no cheers Joe
  3. hi if you get castrol magnatec 5w30 make sure its A5 there a couple of different grades and the A5 is the ONLY one thats jaguar spec WSS-M2C913-B cheers Joe
  4. hi not sure exactly where it is, but its going to be attached to the washer bottle so if you look in the engine bay, look where the washer filler is and follow it down as for the parking sensors i think they have to be jaguar ones cheers Joe

  7. hi I have used them before, they should be ok with jaguar s-type's the only thing is i could recommend is to get it checked by a jaguar dealer, just to be sure i would not say it the car as it comunicated with it the first time, so that would say the coms should be ok it might be worth taking it to a dealer and paying for an hours labour, just to get it plugged in and see what faults there diagnostics show up the learning procedure by driving it is old hat now, im sure jaguar do it all by the equipment and software cheers joe

  9. Hi Guys The Ivory color and repair dye thats works on the leather, should work on your trim If you have a scratch, touch up the scratch first with a cloth, then go over the whole panel and it should cover it cheers Joe

HI It can be done with mongoose lead but you need to be sure exactly of what your doing I paid £80 at my local jaguar indy and he did a great job of updating and resetting the adaptions and it drove lovely after I would reset the adaptions my self, but software update on trans, i would not do, if you get it wrong, then you can brick it. jaguar update and reset adaptions after the auto box oil change service, its part of the gearbox service cheers Joe
  11. Hi yes DAB is good, only problem is you need a good signal and sometime a booster to get it in strong so sometimes its on and off in a car, its like digital tv, you need a good signal and descent aerial, which is awkward in a car cheers Joe

Hi Paul I use my phone, use the app "tunein" there's 1000's of digital stations through your phone Its the best i've seen, its uses my data,but its not a lot and i get unlimited anyway send it to the stereo with my RII Geartist GB01 bluetooth fm transmitter and the sound quality is the best ive seen so far cheers Joe

  16. Hi Mike there easy to change, you just knock it straight through and out the back and then push the new one in from the back, you have to tap it in a bit, then tighten it as normal there like a knurled bit on the bolt that grips inside the hub, so it does'nt spin cheers joe

Hi Paul I have a manual with this all in but my computer has gone down and im on my laptop at the moment I think it uses voice training A and B to store voice tags with the voice it recognises stored in A or B and then stores the tags in that persons trained voice Have you run voice training yet you can delete all voice tags by saying " VOICE DELETE MEMORY A" OR " VOICE DELETE MEMORY B" or " VOICE DELETE DIRECTORY" as soon as i got my pc to boot i send you the manual cheers Joe

  21. hi put some pics up it sound like the hose clamps if you remove the clamps and then tip a bit of hot water on hose/connection out of a kettle then the rubber soften's up and should come off easy using a twisting and pulling action cheers Joe

Hi I would say the S-type R has a much better power steering setup as the front wheels/tyres on the S-type R are huge, so power steering will be more powerfull you could check a few things, tyre pressure's are corrects, this can make a big difference, certain tyre's will make a noticeable difference and also get someone to turn the steering side to side and look inside the wheel arch towards the top of the strut, it should turn smoothly, if it notchy or the spring jumps/clunk the top strut bearing could be seized, this a common problem on cars that have stood some time cheers Joe
  23. hi usually if you cant get cold air it the heater valve if that valve does not shut properly, then you will never get cold air even with air con on the heater valve is a common problem on the s-types, if you getting hot water though to the heater matrix, then i would say it heater valve because when set to a low temp the heater valve should shut completely there a couple of different types and prices vary to model cheers joe

Hi Gavin It looks like you have snapped of the hose fitting on the coolant tank yes it looks like you will need a new or second hand coolant tank I would not try to repair it as like you say there a bit of pressure there and it will only pop off and if it pops off could do some damage like head gaskets if it overheats these cars nowadays are a complete pain, as most items are made of plastic and as it get older, it gets quite brittle, so you have to be carefull when pulling on hoses especially cheers joe
