dear all, I hope you are all well, and in good form I have found a fault on my jaguar s type 2002 suspension of uneven tyre wear on the inside edge , so I put my car on my local MOT ramp which is fitted with wobble plates and it wasn't long before I found the fault of failing bushes lower suspension arm. I can change them myself which is not a problem. but which way to go polyurethane bushes or standard bushes..With standard bushes it seems quite straight forward but with polyurethane bushes it is a science in its self different colours represent different harshness and then there are different colours by manufacture as well as quality between polyurethane bushes. its not a cheap option but is it a better alternative.Polyurethane bushes can squeak if fitted badly and not lubricated on installation or poor design but standard bushes can fail again and where do you stop , and as you are in the area you might as well do the drop links, lower ball joint and anti roll bushes , any thoughts regards to all liam

dear all I have converted my bother in law to the pleasures of owning a big cat, and to today we got a s type .51 plate 3.0 Ltr automatic he will be joining the club after the new year it needs a little work on the suspension and a full service but nothing I cant do , however I am not so sure regarding the auto gear oil change I read or was told that the gearbox are sealed for the lifetime of the vehicle with the same oil , surly it gets thin or contaminated at some point . it can be changed I think but i am not to sure whether to regards to all for the new year liam

hello to all I had no choice but to buy two manifolds from a breakers I have fitted them now regards to all liam

Hello to all The heat shields on my jaguar s type v6/ 2002 have broken away from the exhuast manifolds, I tried to get the little bolts out from the manifolds but to no avail but i managed to save one but not the rest there are six in total , my option now is to drill out and re tap holes but this wouldn't be my first choice , but I had the thought of getting two manifolds made in stainless steel or something similar, all the ones on ebay seem to have bolts broken in them too, something bespoke might work not to mention the possible BHP. gain and weight loss from the old ones has anybody tried this approach regards to all liam

Hi Russ I paid £198.00 including vat and came with two with the clamps and a tube of exhaust paste as well . I didn't use the clamps, if you want his phone number no problem he sends parts all over the country but he is local to where i live so I collected them regards to all liam

hello to all i have put both cats in my jaguar now and I have to say, it was troublesome to do it at home along with broken and seized bolts as well as two lambda sensors seized in as well with very little access ,it can be done but not for the faint hearted so for anybody attempting this project I wish you well regards to all liam

thank you for help and reply . it failed on high CO the pass mark for CO was 32 it came in at 62, all the others were fine, the HC 31 pass 200, Lambda was 1012 pass 970/1030 ,the natural idle test pass 630/830 ,the tester suggested cataclean and take it for a drive and keep the revs over 4500 , which I did and returned for retesting, sadly not enough of a affect on the CO it lowered from 62 to 50 ,so the conclusion was failed or blocked cat. I put a fault code reader my jag and obtained the following codes P0420 Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1) P0430 Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 2) ,it runs lovely its hard to believe it got a fault , but it is all new state of the art mot diagnostics there regards to all liam

three cyclinder misfire upadate, all fixed now regards to all liam
-
hi can you help. ,My jaguar s type 2002 manual has developed a three cylinder misfire all on the passenger side yesterday, and on further inspection I noticed i have very little or no exhaust gas coming out of the exhaust on the passenger side either . I know its not the plugs or ignition coils and connectors as they have been changed recently and i have done about eight hundred miles since they were changed fixing a previous fault . I checked with a fault code reader and no codes logged .as it is one side i am at a loss were to start i suspect a fuse or relay somewhere as it starts and runs but i do not have a hand book to identify what's in the fuse boxes do we have a download of the hand book anywhere. any ideas regards to all liam

hi Dean I am sorry i did not reply sooner but i just got back my internet connection tonight .i am still chasing the fault down , i have a snap on verus fault coder reader and that shows me no DTC codes found it also tell me that there is no MIL on although i have a abs light on , again my car drives really well so i suspect a sensor somewhere we have either one in a wheel or one per wheel , it could be disc related regarding the abs ring which could be worn , but that just is me thinking what it could be, may be sensor are dirty or worn if they make contact with the abs ring we will have to find it as it is a MOT failure and as it did not register on the verus as a fault i cant delete the DTC code , it will all or nothing fault but i find it i will post my findings once i found it regards to all liam

hello to everybody l hope you are all in good spirits my abs light on in my s type 2002 three litre came on today and has remained on all the way home . i have now put a fault code reader on it and to my surprise , no pending or stored codes in ecu which is somewhat puzzling. i suspect a sensor in one of the wheels but which one, , I don't know if I have four , one per wheel or one for the whole car where is the best place to start regards to all liam

thank you all ,for your advice and guidance I will look at my options the autel range of fault code readers look interesting and further consideration if i find a promising candidate i will post my findings regards to all

hello to all, just recently become a the owner of a jaguar s type . i should have bought one years ago regards liam

dear forum and a warm welcome to you all, here is my first posting on the jaguar site . I am hoping the forum will be able to help me with my jaguar 3 litre sport 2002 Manuel that has developed a recent fault , I have recently purchased the car and it has been driving beautifully, but it has now acquired a bottom end misfire very prevalent on tick over but you can rev through it with no further misfire throughout the range.I have a very good code reader and that recovered the fault code P1587 along with a orange light on the dash that has recently come on. I am quite competent with cars and I can fix most things so I decided to have a look to see if I could identify something obvious and on the right hand bank of plugs looking from the front I found the ignition coils and connectors for two of them had been taped on very securely with self amalgamating tape I am not too sure as to the reason as yet its either possibly water ingress, which is unlikely but broken locating tangs on coils or connectors is more suspect. I have yet to investigate further as I have only just ordered a full set of coils packs and replacement connectors and I will solder them in once they arrive . The P1587 code is pointing towards the throttle actuator control, I looked them up on a internet auction site to see what it looks like, but I am not too sure if the throttle body and throttle actuator control are one of the same part and can I change them separately ,and will another throttle body from another 3 litre fit may be from 1999 to 2002 will fit and is this related to my misfire I am at a crossroads on which way to go, and finally I have down loaded the jag workshop manuals which were in a PDF format does the hardback book format exist anywhere as always best regards liam
