  1. All very illegal for road use Like Peter says the DPF is only a visual check for MOT and Jaguars diesels will pass the current emission test with the soot filter removed unless the engine is well worn and smoking when held at revs. If the box is neatly cut open with a plasma cutter and the guts removed then a plate welded back and rub some grease over so it burns and stains the heat shield above hides from further visual investigation. The DPF from the ECU will need to be removed also. If its worth going to all that trouble to just save approximately £360 an aftermarket DPF costs is up to the individual? Only benefit nice exhaust roar + 10bhp gain
  2. £4 for 8cable ties,That's extortion! I blame the price charged since women started reading 50 Shades Of Grey
  3. Open a Not as description case for you money back
  4. Hi Graham. Me nether have any idea as to any holes in the frame skin under the XK bonnet. If any their either be under the striker or just behind it in the frame maybe marked with a dot? Wherever you decide to mount it? There needs to be a minimum of 45mm clearance between the outer bonnet skin and any obstruction under? The holes sizes are 17.5mm for the leaper spring and if you need a hole in the frame that will be 40mm for the nylon nut to pass through. Best if possible not to use the round plinth S type style but the longer plinth style as supplied by Jaguar for the XF & XJ models as this benefits from an extra pin and the plinth is stronger + spreads the load more even (Suggest before buying, Make a template using card of the slope in the XK bonnet above where mounting and check this with the slope on a pre face lift XF as the plinths are slightly shaped for the XF & XJ bonnet slope) I suggest whatever style you decide on? To buy only genuine Jaguar! ( There's some on eBay at £55) And be prepared for the boys in blue to give you a free road side MOT. Print and keep in the glove box EC Directive 74/483 Part 6: Bonnet ornaments 6.1.1. and shove that under there nose if they start to get stroppy. And even then you could be given a ticket as I had once for a dealer fitted leaper on my old XF. I went to court and pleaded not guilty to having a dangerous bonnet ornament and after the police had read all the technical 'ins & outs' to the magistrates I produced an email from Jaguar UK confirming that there leaper ornament conforms wholly to EC Directive 74/483 will depart from the plinth below a force of 10 dAN if struck by an object and the case was dismissed and I was awarded costs. And that's reason I advise on >Genuine Jaguar< As although aftermarket leapers are on a spring you cannot prove at what force the cable and tag holding the leaper would part company with the plinth?
  5. Probably all ex Audi and BMW owners who have upgraded to a Jaguar....
  6. If Bought from a main Jaguar then it would invalidate there approved 2 year warranty. The ECU on these models needs to be opened to enable a remap..Servicing can't tell if its been remapped Just if they do a test drive might spot the extra power..As your not the 1st owner and any problems just act as the install date is not readable. Yes the 8 speed gearbox will take that small torque increase..£225 seems cheap! I always use Quantum Tuning and a home visit will cost around £360 but the map is rewrote buy sending the EUC data to there HQ and about an hour later a map is returned to suit the your actual vehicle and not a generalised one map will suite all 3.0s diesels.
  7. 140mm back from the grille. On the bonnet under side there's a hole just behind the bonnet pin & spring, Drill the center there. (check 1st the nylon nut fits the hole) Suggest you print a copy of EC Directive 74/483 and keep it in the glove box, For when those interceptor guys are feeling bored and decide to give you a free road side MOT.
  8. Cooling fan working + still has its blades?
  9. High!! With 5.0 litres + my right footwould = new rear tyres each month
  10. Grille Adamesh 01525 852 419 ...Bumper trims Auto reserve Jaguar spares 01158 372 707
  11. Seen pre painted inserts for sale on ebay £30 a corner or cheaper...Grille new from Adamesh painted type 2004- £235
  12. Maybe my idea was to old school I was working on the theory that it operated the same as a fabric sunroof I had on a Mk2. It could also operated like the old style semi auto radio antenna? 1 permanent feed and 1 push feed switch to go up or down
  13. You bought this as new or used car? Its pointless going straight to the manufacturer with a complaint! Your complaint is with the dealer who you bought the car from? You did not buy it directly from Jaguar! The ACL law in Australia has been in place since January 1st 2011 which gives you legally enforceable consumer guarantees that the car is of acceptable quality? If you have what the ACL calls a major failure* you are entitled to return it to claim a refund or replacement. A major failure* is when a reasonable consumer would have NOT bought the car if they had known about the problem? Don't let the dealer respray the car as this will be on the cars history! The dealer is using this tactic to get paid for the work by making a claim under Jaguars paint work warranty. Go back to the dealer and firmly reject the car! Don't take any bullsh*t about going back to the manufacture! Either there living in the past or hoping that your are! Since ACL which also applies to imported cars dealers can no longer pass the buck? If the dealer fails to acknowledge ACL then notify the ACCC federal regulator for your state or territory? And maybe a local news paper would like a story. Its not only British cars I bought a 2002 Monaro 472 once and that was a pile of
  14. The problem with painted plastic bumpers is the colour changes more rapid with age than paint on metal and I doubt you would get a colour match just over painting the chrome trims and end up respraying the whole bumper! Looks nice as it now with the R type lower grille and just needs a chrome number plate plinth.
  15. I would have thought a spring loaded release and return to center off position SPDT switch if power was needed to rise and lower the blind? If it has 2 wires from the motor both would be power in and the motor fixed to metal would act as the return.
  16. Hi Vaidas.I personally think you would be jumping out of the frying pan and straight into the fire! Looking to import a used AJ27S engine that would be at least 14 years old with unknown history? That you can't inspect in person and see / hear running. I would remove the heads on your engine 1st and check what's the cause of the water loss problem? If is from a Nicasil liner then the engines scrap! (if it has steel liners there should? be a tag on the rear of the engine block) Plus this engine went through a series of timing chain tensioner upgrades and the only way to tell is to remove cam covers to check it has the metal bodied tensioner as the plastic ones fail. Same with water pumps the vanes need to be metal and not plastic! These 2 items are not cheap parts to replace.
  17. 0-30w Castrol Edge fully synthetic
  18. I'll throw in my 'two pennies worth' 1st Jaguar diesel handbooks state do not use biodiesel. 2nd A pure white derv is near impossible to find at the pumps. Supermarkets thou doing nothing wrong as they have to conform to the relevant British standards blend high amounts of bio to fuels to keeps costs down. Unless your doing high speed driving each day high levels of biodiesel will eventually kill the DPF plus using a high content blend of bio will give less mpg. I always buy a branded quality diesel and not from the 'city diesel' pump plus ever 2nd tankful use a Millers diesel additive.
  19. These are the figures on mine..Went for the red map + just done a late night around trip of 180mile at 70mph on cruise control to Stansted and returned 46mpg.
  20. Tata new sporty offering for the more mature driver
  21. Ok so saying you can adjust the cabin temperature using the hot and cool switches and I take it you can select the auto function switch? Its just the ice type symbol on the touch screen that controls the air con that doesn't respond. There are 2 sensors 1 behind each front lower air duct . I think? the left hand does the outside ambient temperature which you say is not showing and the right hand sensor (i'm not quite sure) is for the auto quick deice function. These sensors do corrode due to there exposed position and just un-clip to change. The only other thing I can think off is air con has discharged all its gas and preventing you from using it.
  22. Hi Shannon Its not quite clear? What part of the climate control is not working? Pressing the fan button center turns it on or off? Plus bottom right on the touch screen has an on /off option.
  23. As Tigger said Steve. I would go the route of fitting a decent known brand of bulb which will give the desired effect as dip beam is poor on the pre face lift models, Suggest trying something like Philips xtreme vision which will give a good light increase over standard bulbs without extra heat as there's no way heat can escape from projector style units. LED bulbs run hot! LED side lamp bulbs will not fit though the hole that the long tube clips into between the high & dip beam lamps to hold them. I know the yellowish side lamp bulbs don't look that good but beware on upgrading them to pure white as I found out to my cost they melt the tube and clips! It's much less hassle to remove the headlamp units than trying to fit bulbs with the head lamp units still in place. There are 4 bolts 1 under the wing, 2 on the slam panel and 1 lower down by the grille side. Lay something soft on the ground in front of the lamp your removing. Wriggle the lamp unit gentle taking care that the part that wraps around the wing does not damage the paint, Once this is slightly forward wriggle the unit forward and slightly upwards (Care needed as the 2 plastic fittings for the slam panel are know to harden with age and snap easy!) Once the unit is free unclip the wiring loom. Suggest if memory is not that good? Take a photo of the lamp unit with the bulbs still in place! As it's easy to replace bulbs on these units upside down! Plus don't move the switch that converts to LHD lamps. Replacement is opposite to removal and suggest fitting the under wing bolt a few turns 1st as you may have to wriggle the unit to find the hole. The bolt lower down by the grille I suggest tape the bolt to the socket when replacing as if this drops your never find it again! (care needed removing also) The only experience I had of fitting LED bulbs were to my Subaru Forester due to the dip xenon ballast HID power pack failing and Subaru high replacement cost it was cheaper to buy LED replacements. The ones I bought had built in cooling fans and but due to the size of the bulb cover would not fit.
  24. Sounds like number 2 bank of cylinders are getting an additional supply of un-metered air? It could be anything from the manifold gasket failed to any fittings & pipes (not forgetting the brake booster pipe) on the manifold allowing air to be sucked in.You could try an none combustible liquid, Like liquid soap & water around gaskets and see if any is being sucked in? The only other thing I can think off is the exhaust sensor.
  25. The bulletin notice was: JTB00263 And I don't think this was a recall? To get the problem fixed FOC you had to complain to you Jaguar dealer. Unless you bought the car from a Jaguar dealer within the last 2 years then any warrantee has timed out and lapsed for a 2012 model. You could try and see if as a gesture of goodwill? you can get the problem sorted by contacting CS at Jaguar HQ.
