  1. Welcome Andrew, yes it's a great feeling owning a Jag, I was bitten at the age of 5 when I was treated to a ride on the folded hood a my Dads friends black E Type convertible on a hot summers day, the feeling never left me and I'm now on my second. Happy motoring Andrew
  2. Hi David, Great looking X Type, quality upgrades and mods. Doing bits and bobs to mine and hoping to get up to concourse eventually. Mines into the Indy on Monday, noticed a slight collection of fluid around the water pump so in for a new one plus wax oil treatment to the sills and under carriage, Wings etc.Had all new discs and pads all round done a short while ago. dont you just love em ! Hi Rich, I've owned a 2.0d Sport estate and now have a 2.5 auto SE saloon, both very good cars, but for me, the 2.5 is a much better car, I just love the gutsy V6 which is smooth as silk, the car has a lot of extras which also adds to the appeal. I do around 100 miles a week in her and not bothered about economy hence why I went for a petrol. A friend of mine sold his 02 2.1V6 SE back in Feb for £700 with 120k, it had a few slight cosmetic marks but everything worked, no warning lights, straight body and a full history. There are cars out there sub 1k but as Rowley says, you might struggle to find a car in the short term that is totally problem free. Happy hunting Andrew

  8. Andy, I had a similar problem a few years ago on a previous car except it was the passenger footwell, could not trace the source for love nor money. Took the Nozel off my hose (to give gentle flow ) and got my son to pass over the doors windscreen and roof slowly while I sat in the car, hey presto, traced to a blocked duct on the sunroof. Sorted it with a straightened wire coat hanger very gently pushing down the duct. If you don't have a sunroof, the hose trick might get you a bit closer to the source. Cheers Andrew

  10. Hello Walter, pics below and link to the back seat protector I use, keeps our Spaniel/Retriever nice and cosy plus does a great job of protecting the seat. I took the added precaution of using a thick fleecy blanket (Dunelm) underneath the cover as it is a generic type rather than custom fit.   11. Hi Brian and welcome, The X Type is a great car, Im pretty certain, the sill issues were resolved from 2004my onwards, so earlier cars could have this issue. I have a 2005 model and not a spec of rust anywhere and great reliability, my first X Type was a 2004 sport estate and I sold her with 200k on the clock, went through the usual bits n bobs throughout its life but gave great reliable service. With the budget you have to hand easily looking at a facelift model which had approx 500 upgrades/mods to the previous model, having said that, good service history and careful ownership go towards a solid purchase. Hi Graham, i have used Humbrol modlers enamal paint in the past, you can buy in Matt finish and blend with other-colours to get the correct colour to suit your plastic trim, I've found it to be the best solution for me. Now here's the challenge , below is a pic of my centre console with a 2"sq area that I've touched up with Humbrol, who can tell me where it is cheers, Andrew

  16. I can't answer that Dave tbh, I've got so used to it that I don't notice it much, I'm out in it tomorrow, so will do a bit of figure of 8 reversing to see what happens and report back
  17. No worries, Nathan, It is difficult to know what's best, having said that, I've had more issues with German gearboxes than anything else. One thing I would say is that I'm pretty sure Jaguar are a manufacturer that has probably put more autos in cars than most, so, reliability should be up there with the best, I've not had any issues with them. good luck Andrew

Hi David, i have the same car, the AWD do have a slight whirling noise in the drive train that appears and dissapears dependant on speed/rpm, mine is not intrusive but you can detect this noise slightly at times, funnily enough, when I lived in NZ I had Mitsubishi 3.5 v6 with perm 4x4 and it had a similar whirling noise, so, I would suggest it is pretty normal and nothing to worry about, having said that, keep an eye on it and if it get worse drop into your mech for a checkup. Nathan, no manufacturer is totally reliable, I had an Audi that went through 2 DSG gearboxes sub 100 k and I drove it like a Nun, the auto on my X type is perfect and has an oil change every year even though Jag say it's lifetime, my first Jag did 200k on one gearbox with no issues, as I've said before, cars need good regular maintenance, lowish mileage and good history are one route to reliability in my opinion.   20. Hi John, from my experience, they worked if the car was in a garage and thus dry, but outside agree with Peter. Did nothing but trap moisture which is not good long term for paint or chassis.

Guy's, Just an update, I've been using this device for a while now and it is just great, can't comment on the Jag BT system as no experience of this, however I had a 15 plate Audi A6 last year (sent it back lol) with BT and this performs just as good, the best 20 bucks I've spent in a long while.

  23. Hi Paul and welcome, firstly, do you have a small black button next to the mirror adjustment module located on the door card ? If so,press it and the mirrors fold in and out when pressed. If not, then the mirrors will fold by doing the following, place one palm on the painted side of the mirror housing and the other on the mirror side, gently push towards the rear of the car rotating in towards the window, You will feel some resisitance and then the mirror will move. Complete in reverse to put the mirror back into the normal position. i have a 2.5 AWD SE and it is a great car Cheers A

  25. Hi Ralph, if it were me, I would look at the discs, brake fluid, pads etc and replace accordingly, do you know when any of the aforementioned were replaced or serviced ? Sensors are well known for being sensitively difficult with the slightest anomaly, sorting these should allow a reset, I've just had all my disks, pads and fluid changed and all is well. It could well be a mechanical issue that is setting the D.SC. / abs light OFF. Cheers Andrew
