Personally i think that the average age of a jag owner is probably 40+ for various reasons . As a more mature driver at 48 iv'e had many many cars over the years and my taste in cars has matured like a fine wine . The youngsters are more interested in hot hatches etc with the odd exception of course . As for the larger engined jags , the running costs probably put a lot of young people off . I think certain ages go for certain cars . For example how often do you see a 50+ person driving a hot hatch ? I am proud to own my jag and i don't class myself as old .

Hi Joe , you can remove the door card trim without taking the panel off , but the three metal clips that hold it in place just fall away so the panel has to be removed to push the clips back on . I presume it would be the same on your S type but not 100 % . I will post some pics when i get a matching gear knob as it looks a bit odd with the old one plus the bar that holds the passenger air bag panel in place needs knocking in about half a cm as it's not quite sitting right , might have to put a bit of lubrication on it as it's very tight . Regards , Andy .

Just fitted my new trim and was surprisingly easy to do . The trickiest part was the door card trim , but even that was quite straight forward , just make sure you have a pack of door card clips / fasteners handy as quite a few broke when pulling the door cards off . The clips are cheap a pack of 20 off e-bay is only £3-95 . Regards , Andy .

Hi Paul , the clicking noise should be coming from all four sensors . If you put your car in reverse with the ignition on , go round the back and put your ear to each of the sensors you should hear a clicking noise coming from each one . Regards , Andy.
-
Well you can certainly see the difference , will be interesting to see how long it lasts . Regards , Andy .

If you mean the dash vents that blow on to the windscreen mine were loose and kept popping up at both ends on both sides ( very annoying ) . I couldn't see how they exactly clipped in so i thought that i would never need to remove them so put a thin layer of glue round the edges and permanently resolved the problem . Not everyone's idea of sorting the problem , but if you do it make sure you go over the area with a damp cloth to remove any residue otherwise it will turn white and will be a pain to remove( as i found out lol ) . Regards . Andy .

Similar to the situation when i was looking for a replacement speaker / bleeper . Someone had one second hand on ebay with the exact serial number and wanted £18 plus postage , but i sourced a brand new Ford one which fitted and worked for £10 . Regards , Andy .

If that is the problem you can get one off ebay for about £20 . Regards , Andy . -
Hi Matt , welcome to the club . I'm sure you will find your X- type is nothing like a Mondeo when you start driving it . Pop some photos up . Regards , Andy .

Welcome to the club Gary . Nice colour and low mileage , so your on a winner there. My blue s type is slightly smaller than yours

Do you think this is genuine Joe ? looks to easy to me . Had mine done last year and quite a bit of effort went into it by a mobile headlight restorer . If it actually works that would be fantastic . It would be interesting to see if anyone has used this product . Regards , Andy .

You would be unlucky if all four sensors were faulty so i would check the fuses before you go any further . If the module has had water in it it might well be kaput . Have you tried drying it out with a hair dryer to get all the dampness out ? Regards , Andy .

Hi Joe , if this link doesn't work https://www.facebook.com/pg/ProdipHydrographics/about/?ref=page_internal just type in Prodip Hydrographics and it should come up , tel no is 07469240775 the lad is called Richard and i think he does it all from home in York . Regards , Andy .
-
If all four sensors are working it could possibly be the parking aid control module which i think is located in the boot in the spare wheel recess . Regards , Andy .

I have just received my hydro dipped dash and door trim for my X- type from Richard at Prodip Hydrographics and what a fantastic job he has done. I know a lot of members like the traditional wood effect , but i fancied something different . His facebook page is worth a visit if anybody wants any bits doing . He even supplied all the trim so i didn't have to remove mine and send it off .

Hi Charles , i'm not sure if it could be anywhere else . Have you been looking in the right place ? If you locate the metal base of the parcel shelf from the boot , there should be two large round holes ( where the premium sound bass speakers should be ) with some covering glued over them . If you gently push the covering out of the way you can then fit your hand in and have a feel round to locate the small bleeper / speaker . On mine the bleeper / speaker is attached to the metal parcel shelf base with two push in black fasteners which just push straight through the lugs on the bleeper and into the frame . You can see them poking through from the boot if you can get your head in far enough lol . If you have a premium sound system the two large holes will have speakers in and that will make the job a lot more difficult . Regards , Andy .

He was possibly tanked up by the sounds of it

Go for it David , low mileage and a 3.0 V6 engine makes a good combination . As mentioned above , should be a cam chain and as for the sills don't let that put you off if they are rusty . My 3.0 x type had the dreaded sill rot ( common problem ) no rust ANYWHERE else and some garages make it out to be a major problem but for my mechanic it wasn't a problem at all ( he has done quite a few ) and wasn't a massive expense and passed the mot no problem . For the money you can get them for and the luxury car you get it's a no brainer in my opinion . Regards , Andy . -
Hi Jason , i had the same problem with mine recently and as Joe said it was the speaker / bleeper that was at fault . It is located under the rear parcel shelf accessible from the boot . If you have a premium sound system in it will be more difficult as the access point is where the parcel shelf speakers are located . I sourced a brand new Ford one which fitted and works off e-bay for a tenner Genuine Ford Parking Control Aid Speaker 4501599 and took ten minutes to fit . Regards , Andy .

OBD socket should be just under the dash drivers side on the right . I was looking for a code reader myself i have seen these on e-bay don't know how good they are though . http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MaxiScan-MS509-Car-Diagnostic-Fault-Code-Scanner-Reader-CAN-OBDII-OBD2-EOBD-/191481876688?hash=item2c953590d0:g:Y~8AAOSw0e9Uti2L

I got some heat resistant caliper paint off Ebay and was going to rub them down and paint them myself , but the calipers wern't in fantastic shape so i have taken them off and sent them to BIGG RED caliper specialists http://www.biggred.co.uk/ for a refurb and paint ................ Finished in Premium BLACK Premium Paint Process All calipers are stripped back to bare metal to facilitate casting examination. Coated with rust inhibitor to resist oxidisation, road salt and chemicals. Then Two top coats are applied & oven cured, this provides further resistance to chemicals and heat. The calipers are then rebuilt using 100% new pistons, seals and bleed screws. Finally every caliper is hydraulically wet tested prior to dispatch & guaranteed hydraulically for 12 months.
