  1. Crazy these days having no spare wheel . If you had a blow out a can of " jollop" would be no good whatsoever plus a simple puncture that could be repaired would need a new tyre after putting a can of "jollop" in it . I feel much happier having a full size spare but a space saver would be better than nothing .
  2. Hi Rich , i know the trim that goes round the air vents and speedo clocks / dials just pulls away very easily and goes back just as easy . Not sure about the trim in front of the passenger as i think it has a air bag behind it . Regards , Andy .
  3. Always nice when a problem is sorted with a cheap easy fix
  4. Wow i didn't even know anything was broadcast on AM anymore . Shows how much i know
  5. Hi Tom , i am staying with 17" and will also be looking for 5 spoke , i've got my eye on a few different sets on wheelbasealloys.com who do some good wheel and tyre deals. I'm just going to get some new discs and pads and my calipers painted first. Regards , Andy.
  6. I've ordered some the other day from car mats uk who do saloons and estates . They do several types standard / exclusive / luxury etc and you can get them in several different colours and trim edging , plus you can have logos put on as well ( all custom made ) . I will post some photos when they arrive . I used this firm when i had my Toyota Celica and the mats were very good quality , but i did order near top of the range ones . Regards , Andy .
  7. Hi Paul , when i bought mine it needed several small niggly jobs doing , but now it is virtually as i want it i'm over the moon with it . I hope you enjoy yours as much as i do mine . Regards , Andy .
  8. I had someone come to my house and do mine including a uv protection coat all for £25 for the pair , so wasn't worth the time and effort in buying a kit and trying to do them myself . The guy did a fantastic job . My neighbour had a replacement headlight put in his skoda and the other one looked absolutely knackered , very glazed and cloudy and he sorted that for a extra tenner . They all still look like brand new .
  9. Same problem with my vanity mirrors so instead of messing around with them i bought two same colour replacements for a tenner each of ebay and fitted them both in about fifteen minutes .
  10. Hi Stephen , my garage did mine while it was in for a small job , they did it for free but i put a tenner in their tea jar for their trouble . Regards , Andy.
  11. I have sorted the problem , it was the small speaker located in the parcel shelf area and was replaced for a tenner .
  12. I have decided to treat my X type to a new set of wheels and tyres . I have found a supplier " wheelbasealloys.com " who have a great selection of wheel and tyre packages but i can't make my mind up which ones to go for , i have changed my mind half a dozen times already . The car is silver and was going to stay with 17" size that are already on it and was looking to spend not much more than £200 a corner including tyres ( Toyo Proxes CF2 or similar ) . Any suggestions would be grateful . Regards , Andy .
  13. Ah i see , i knew it wouldn't be straight forward it rarely ever is lol . I will have to call in to AUDIO ISLAND near where i live to see what they can do . It's not a top priority at this minute but I will get it sorted one way or another in the next few months . Regards , Andy .
  14. Everything is available on ebay Alpine door speakers and tweeters , amp , rear parcel shelf with subs . The only thing i'm having trouble finding is the interior door handles where the tweeters sit and of course someone to fit it all . Hopefully it will all come together eventually . I was a dj for years so i like to listen to a good quality sound system . Regards , Andy .
  15. Hi Lee , welcome to the club . You certainly like your big Jag's , can't fault you . I'm surprised you have only just found the club . I have been a member of a few owners clubs over the years and have found this one the best so far with plenty of friendly and very helpful members on here . I'm sure you will enjoy it . Regards , Andy .
  16. Hi , does anyone know how hard it will be to upgrade my sound system to a premium sound one ? I know i will need a different parcel shelf for the two sub speakers and door handles with the tweeters in also a amplifier and upgraded door speakers . I was wondering if any members have had it done . Cheers , Andy .
  17. Hi , when i bought mine there were several issues to sort out but i have sorted them one by one and it looks and drives like a dream now . Stick at it as it will be worth it in the end for sure . There are many knowledgeable members on here who are more than happy to help with any problems . They have given me some great advice and pointers in the past . Regards , Andy.
  18. If all else fails there are mobile wheel nut removal specialists dotted around the country. They have the proper tools for the job and will save you a lot of hassle .
  19. Nearly as bad as Del boys initials for Trotters Independent Traders lol
  20. Thanks Dave , and yes all sensors make a clicking noise when in reverse .
  21. Can anyone tell me where exactly the Parking Aid Module is located on my X-Type as my parking sensors are not working . If the module is the problem i can get a second hand one for next to nothing . Thanks in advance . Andy.
  22. I might buy X400 ARJ i have a X-Type also known as the X400 and my initials are ARJ and not a bad price either .
  23. That would be a good idea David but i have read on a forum that if you plug a different unit in then plug your old one back in it won't work and will need reprogramming . I was hoping just to buy some different clocks from the scrapper until i found out they are all programmed to the individual car and will need re doing . Regards , Andy .
  24. It's looking good David . It's nice to see people keeping their cars in tip top condition .
  25. I dismantled the dash and took the clocks out ( very easy ) then started to try and get inside to see if there was anything obvious like a missing led or to see if it had been taped over . I got so far and couldn't get the dials to part with the backing . I used as much force as i dare then put it back together again , so i am still none the wiser . I will probably take the clocks back out in the summer and send it to a cluster repair specialist , seems to be a few on the net . I don't want to break it and end up buying new clocks and having them reprogrammed .
