I looked on ebay and there are dozens to choose from . I was hoping that someone had a particular brand/model that they could personally recommend . There are some much smaller units that claim to do the job , but i'm not convinced enough to buy one . I have settled for a heavy duty set of jump leads instead for now . Regards , Andy.

Can't seem to get the link to work .

You could get rid of the condensation by taking bulbs out and blasting a hair drier through the back ???? or popping a SILICA GEL SACHET inside ?? You need to find out though why dirt and condensation are getting inside in the first place . Hopefully one of the other members will have a better idea. Regards , Andy.

Yes i agree Rowley , not everyone's cup of tea but if i ever sold it the film can be peeled off in a few minutes . I am actually a classic car fan , mainly 70s and 80s and if i had one it would be totally standard with no dark lenses lol

I found these on ebay recently so ordered some and they fit like a glove http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331986774109?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Unfortunately it is a common problem . My local garage sorted my drivers side out not long ago and cost me £120 ( cash ) . Apparently not to much of a big job as some places make out. Regards, Andy.

Have you checked the fuse ? Should be fuse F4 ( 5A mini ) in the Passenger compartment fuse box . One possibility there has been a short somewhere .

It makes you wonder how her kids will turn out with a role model like that . People like that really do make my blood boil

When i bought my X-Type one of the rear windows wouldn't open . It turns out it was just stuck due to probably not been opened for a long time . A little persuasion and it opened and has been fine ever since . Good luck . Regards, Andy . -
I did that before on a Toyota Celica i had and never regretted it for one minute . It looked fantastic and got plenty of positive comments of how good it looked , which more than made up for the money i spent . If it makes you happy then it's money well spent in my opinion .

Winter is not far away and i was thinking a jump starter / booster pack would be a good bit of kit for the boot ( just in case ) . Can anyone recommend a good reliable one that can do the job ? There are that many on the market with contradictory reviews that it is impossible to choose one . I have a 3.0 x -type . Any recommendations will be appreciated . Regards, Andy.

Hi Peter , this was a place in Louth about 15 miles away from me . They were quoting prices to people on Facebook and anything over a 2.0L was a ridiculous price . This was a while back and prices may have changed . I will have to have a search to see if anyone else is doing it locally . Regards , Andy.

I was going to have my 3.0 X - type done and was looking for a price ages ago . . A standard car up to 2.0 was £150 and for mine was something daft like £250+. Just been looking on the net and prices seem to be a lot cheaper now . Just found this = We Randstad are the importers of TerraClean . We set Recommended Retail Prices. Vehicles up to 2.0L engine size £ 108.00 vehicles above 2.0L engine size £ 126.00. Larger engined vehicles including Trucks and Buses will cost more.

I have nearly got my X Type where i want it now , just a few little bits to do . I noticed the black plastic trim around the outside of the car was looking dull and faded so tried some back to black spray on from my local motor store. After a week or so it needed doing again so i gave Sonax Xtreme Exterior Plastic Restorer Gel Nano Pro 250ml a go and a month later it still looks as good as new . It is in gel form and was £11-95 for 250ml and i have hardly used any so will last a long time even if the trim needs to be done every few months .I just need to sort the chrome trim around the tops of the doors out now as it is looking dull and what looks like water marks on it . I have tried a couple of products to no avail . I have just searched the net and a product called Meguiar's NXT All Metal Polysh (Polish) - Anti Corrosive Metal Polish - 142g Tub has been recommended even though it says metal polish , so going to give that a go to see what happens . I will get some before and after photos if it does the trick .

Wow a 1977 car with 12,870 miles on is very rare . Some photos would be nice . Good luck with the sale . Regards, Andy.

Very reasonable price that Peter for the amount of damage . What was the paint match like ? Regards, Andy .

As well as on here you could try other selling sites including Ebay , Autotrader or Gumtree. I have had good results on Ebay , a classified ad for 28 days used to be £14-99 if my memory serves me right . You could try it on here first by getting a good description and some photos up . Regards , Andy.

Sounds like problem solved. Probably one of the best products on the market WD40 , comes in handy for so many things.

That might be worth looking at Joe . I will have a search on the net . Cheers.

Let me know if you get one sorted David as it would be worth my while having a drive up myself . Cheers.

I would be tempted to pop the door panel off and see if there is anything obvious behind there . Hopefully a easy cheap fix.

Wow no Gary , that is a fair whack for a replacement key . I knew it would be a fair bit but £300 + is a eye opener . I think i might just stick with the one key and be very careful with it . Thanks for the heads up .
