Thanks chaps. Had a lift in a diesel XF today. Was impressed with how quite it was and the pull of a powerful diesel. Less impressive was the interior. Seemed less "Jaguar" to my limited experience. Too shiney best sums it up. Still nice though. Gary M.

Thanks for that Pete. I'll let it run its course. Gary M.

Sadly I don't. Hope someone on here does know though. On my Freelander it was simply a matter of bleeding the coolant. An easy task which solved the problem. Gary M.

Been giving it a clean. Only real niggle is that I have a gurgling behind the dash. Seller said he'd had a relay replaced and when I tried it and got it home there was nothing. From what I can gather it's the A/C flaps behind the dash and not a big job. Hopefully? I was worried it would not meet my expectations as I really loved the ZT, but I needn't have been so. Gary M.

Will get some photos when work gets out of the way. In the meantime what a motor. It certainly is living up to the marque's reputation. Gary M.

It's on me drive. I feel I have achieved a life long ambition. Gary M.

55 plate 3ltr SE low mileage service history. Drove a treat, pick it up Thursday.

Eventually got to see the V8. Well apart from the badly worn drivers bolster, split H/B gaiter, non-working A/C, dent O/S rear wheel arch, the engine seemed nowhere near as responsive as the V6 I tried a couple of weeks ago. It was very lumpy on idle too. A very bad sign for the 4.0 I believe? It is as they say good to try a few beforehand. Gary M.

Now sorted. Only downside is it's in primer. Gary M.

It was a bit of a jaunt to go and see it and to be honest if we had not gone so far I wouldn't have even bothered to have a drive it was that bad. He fired it up and you could tell it wasn't right as the idle was very lumpy. Certainly not as smooth as the V6 I tried. I have another one lined up to see shortly, private as well with an immaculate MOT file. Thanks for the links and the advice. Here's a curve ball! On the way back a Crossfire went past us, showed one to my minder they look different she said; quirky? She quite liked the look of it....... Gary M.

Well managed to go and see my first one today, this one: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201608106675546?search-target=usedcars&make=jaguar&model=s-type&price-from=2000&price-to=3000&maximum-mileage=up_to_50000_miles&page=1&sort=default&postcode=ip141lf&radius=1500&onesearchad=new%2Cnearlynew%2Cused&body-type=saloon&logcode=p&adPos=4 it was close, or so we thought. Anyway it drove a treat, very quite, very smooth. Looked great, but there were a few too many dinks scrapes and evidence of corrosion for me.. Had to laugh though, pressed the memory button on the drivers seat and ended up pinned on the steering wheel. My wife was having hysterics, it was like the scene from the film Christine where the garage owner gets crushed by the car. Thankfully inbetween the laughter she got hold of the handbook and managed to find the seat adjusting instructions so I managed to get back to a safer position. Nice car, but I would probably have to spend a bit to get it to how I would want it. At least I know what they are like. Thanks for the links, will give them a peruse. Appreciate the help. Gary M.

Still on the look out, problem seems to be two-fold. 1, I seem to be at work all the time, got tomorrow of then another 6 maybe 7 days. 2, cars that tick the box all seem to be a days drive away. However this caight my eye: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201608126746630?search-target=usedcars&make=jaguar&model=s-type&fuel-type=petrol&transmission=automatic&radius=1500&searchcontext=default&sort=default&postcode=ip141lf&page=20&body-type=saloon&onesearchad=new%2Cnearlynew%2Cused&logcode=p&adPos=1 Until I saw it was a CATD Are there any issues with 3.0lts? Guess the 2.5s are a little underpowered for the body size? Gary M.

I put it on one of the marque's F/B pages saying that the proceeds would be going to the charity. Got something of an overwhelming response, thankfully someone came along, viewed it and agreed to the price, he's picking it up next week after he returns from his jollies. Will be sort of sad to see it go, had for just over 6 years, at one point was looking to keep it for some considerable time. It drove a treat when I went to work in last week - no second thoughts though. Well...... See it as a win win. The charity benefits, I feel like I have put something back to those who have helped, the car goes to an enthusiast and I'm in a good position to negotiate a deal on a make I have longed for since I was knee high to a grasshopper as they say. Just need to be a little patient. Gary M. PS my wife prefers the early interiors.......

Well I'very sold it, chap picks it up week on Tuesday after his jollies. See the V8 has been reduced??? I'm not precious over a V8, 3ltr would suit me just as well. Gary M.

I've posted my car for sale on one of the ZT F/B pages. I've been knocked out by the support people have shown for what I'm doing. I don't know what I will do at present as I'm of the script as they say. Thanks for the advice, it is most appreciated. Gary M.

I just hope it goes for a good price, I'll be giving a clean and polish today and take the photo's, been suggested that I put it up for .99p with no reserve. Bit nervous about that I must admit. It should be on Thursday night for a 10 day auction finishing on a Sunday at around 08:00. I might put a reserve on it, knowing my luck it will go for 30bob. Out of curiosity if I did go for the car what figure would you suggest? Gary M.

Sorry just seen this. I haven't been, but I still may. I've decided to sell my ZT first, but with a twist?? Little bit of background. In March of last year my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, she's now doing well I am glad to say. To say it has been a difficult time is an understatement. Like most people I would like to put something back into the system that has helped us, most folks go for a 10k run or jump out of a perfectly serviceable plane and ask friends, relatives and neighbours to sponser them a few quid. Unfortunately my own health issues, chronic asthmatic and a replacement hip, exclude me from taking up such dangerous exploits. So I'm going to auction off the ZT with ALL proceeds going to Breast Cancer Care. It's not worth a huge amount, certainly not £1000's, whatever it makes will go to the charity. When sold I may still go and have a look, it's still there and no movement on the price. Who knows if, with no P/ex, I might get it down to something nearer its true worth - whatever that is? Gary M.

I've heard elsewhere issues with the tensioners on the 4.0ltrs. What was the problem with them and was it subject to a recall? Gary M

That's very intersting guys, I'm hoping to view it the weekend, if I can shake off a very painful ear infection. Must remember I'm in no rush and there are plenty of them about for me to pick. I'll let people know how I get on. Gary M

Here it is Paul: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201607125769219?search-target=usedcars&make=jaguar&model=s-type&maximum-mileage=up_to_60000_miles&price-to=4000&seller-type=trade_adverts&fuel-type=petrol&price-from=3500&radius=1500&postcode=ip141lf&sort=default&page=1&body-type=saloon&onesearchad=new%2Cnearlynew%2Cused&logcode=p&adPos=6 Sorry should have posted link up originally. I'm arranging to view a V8 over the weekend, low mileage one owner 1999. Sills apart what else should I be looking out for please? Thanks in advance for any advice.
-
Thanks for the heads up Paul and everyone else on this issue. Is this because the covers trap any water between the covers and sills? From my MGB owning days if there was a B with chrome sills on the advice was to leave alone. Did you have to have the car on a jig at all Paul whilst the welding was carried out? Gary M.
